I just got one of these last week, and finished packing it up for my upcoming vacation, and I have to say my initial impression is that this thing is really nice. It feels and looks like a really tight seal. In fact when I opened it upon arrival it let out a strong exhale due to the pressure change from where it originated. And the foam is snugging in the smokes real nice and it came with a small jar of humidifying goop. The jar would in theory crush any cigars under it, so I had to plan my packing so that the corner where I placed the jar doesn't have any cigars under it. Also, if you use the depressions in the foam, you can't actually fit 24 cigars in there. And these sticks are too nice to risk damage from placing them otherwise. But overall so far I'm pleased with it. And I also placed two humidpaks in there for good measure.

Quick question: On the jar, as seen in the bottom photo, am I supposed to leave in or take out that white paper thing under the holes?

And here's your porn:

:) Very nice! I have one that looks identical that I made fome a hand gun case from Kmart. I love it for traveling. :D

You're supposed to take the white seal out of the Humi-Gel....and it'll promptly leak all over everything. A couple of Bovida humi-packs should do it, though beads are the best possible solution.

Good Luck - B.B.S.

That's what I was thinking when I looked at how big the holes are vs. the size of the crap in the jar. I guess I do have a cigar sized tube of beads that I could put back into service.

I have a 15 ct cigar caddy (similar item) that I use for fishing trips and the like. I've gone 4 days without any humidity device and not seen a problem. These cases are so tight, the cigars kind of keep the humidity themselves.

I would use the smallest and cleanest source of humidity I could find. Preferably one that is self-regulating like beads.

I ordered a 5ct from Mark, hoping it will be at home tonight when I get there. I was curious on what you guys do as far as humidity is concerned when the cigarcaddy is NOT in use? Is it like a regular humi in that if you plan on using it semi-regularly you should keep it maintained? or do you just charge up the humidification system a day or so prior to use?

I bought mine to be a carrier containter to and from the B&M and possibly for some small road trips here and there. Hoping to use it about once a week or so..

I have that same unit, and mine has a puck in the lid filled with florist foam that easily pulls off. I just put a bit of 50/50 solution in it, and it holds 65-70% with no problems. That way you can use all that space for cigars!!!

Very nice Gonz! Is it too big to fit in a carry on or just right? I have an average size carry on that just fits under the seats of a plane. I am torn between the 15 and 24 ct.

you did it now andy....nice otterbox, and a very nice set of sticks to boot!

Andy - just use a HUMI-PAK...that will be more than sufficient.
The box is O-ring sealed...ever if you don't use a pak - the humidity from the cigars will keep - as it is a sealed container.
You may even find the cigars to be too moist at times.
Also - DO NOT PUT THESE BOXES IN THE CARGO HOLD!!!

Air pressure may LOCK the case - I've heard of guys havin to drill a hole in the case just to release pressure!

Enjoy the ride!!

Looks to me like this box has the pressure release dial. No holes to drill!

Andy,

Nice selection of sticks, what you going to have on the second day of your vacation? I bet your clothes are not packed yet - can see what your priorities are :)

Put that PAM 35 with your ISOM's, :0 your ISOM's are going to taste like NC's

This will fit no problem in my carry on. And yes, it has the pressure release dial if need be.

And I forgot to add that Infinity is right, I have not begun packing my clothes yet. Picking out and packing smokes is alot more fun!

Don't worry about that. IF by chance you cant figure out how to pen the Otterbox, put it in a freezer for 3 hours. If yo can't get it open then, try another 3 hours. If at that point it wont open, it is glued shut you poor moron!!!

I have the 5 count version and I like it a lot for taking a few sticks somewhere and I don't have to worry about them getting crushed in my bag!
