The Worlds Best Hot Dog

Best dog I've ever had was a Chicago dog @ Wrigley. Not sure how it compares to other dogs in Chicago, but it was a combination of the hotdog and first time being at Wrigley.

When I lived in the LA area I got to sample Pink's and the Dodger dog.
I found both very meh.

My fav local dog in PC is a chili (Texas style) cheese dog wedge with onions spicy mustard and ketchup(the wedge is some nice fresh italian bread) at the Stand By Inn or Hubba's.

There is a place I haven't tried but want to is Walters Hot Dog Stand in Mamaroneck...
Apparently they make their own mustard and have a cult following...
Maybe I'll give it a go today!

I do like Nathan's but find Papaya King or Grey's to be superior.
I would never scoff at a good Chicago dog.

Keep an open mind and try 'em all!
Until your arteries clog anyways!

So I tried the hebrew national dog last night. its a great dog and definitely has its own distinctive flavor. Great hot dog! However, I still think I prefer the nathans dogs.

I have a few left in the package though for a second taste test.

Enjoyed my two Hebrews last night! Mmmm.. I still have 5 left.
If anybodys interested I'd be happy to make a 5'er up and send it on it's way. :sign:

Best hotdogs are eaten plain. Maybe some ketchup ( a big no no in chicago) and a smidgen of grilled onions
Why drown the flavor of a hotdog with all the fancy condiments some of you guys are serving up.
Sort of defeats the purpose of having a hotdog.

I just remembered if in chicago GO to the "NEW COMISKY" aka us cellular field and get a KOSHERS BEST HotDog with a dash of mustard and a smidgen of grilled onions damn those are awesome.. even better are the polishes.

Where's Hubba's?

Port Chester, NY

After all this weiner talk I took a lil trip to Walter's today.
Weird hotdogs... they are very pale and taste almost like a veal german sausage not a hot dog.
Awesome homemade mustard though!

Best's Kosher hotdogs have been the best I have had to date. I'll take Best's Kosher over Nathans any day. Great on the grill or plain 'ole boiled in water.

My personal favorite hot dog is a 1/4 pound all beef frank chicago style (pickles, tomatoes, hot peppers, etc. etc.) at a local Deli called Primo's. If your ever in the area and want a great sandwich this is the spot. Add to that their great selection of beer and free chips and you got yourself a meal.

Only one other guy on here knows what a Zwiegles is? bah... THE BEST!! I have them shipped to me in Florida.

I love Hot Dogs! My favorites are Hebrew National, then Shofar. Boars Head also makes great Hot Dogs.
Sabrett and Nathans I haven't had in years, but when I lived in New York, I had my fair share.
I fix them according to my mood. I Love them with Onions and sauce, Sauerkraut, Guldens Spicey brown mustard. Bun fresh out of the bag, or lightly buttered and grilled. Coleslaw is also great on a Hot Dog.
No real favorite way to eat them.

pffft Chicago Style hotdog is the only way. Either Vienna or Koshers Best. amatuers!

anytime i'm in the chicago airport I always get one. but they aren't the best. :sign:

You expect airport hotdogs to be good? LMAO.

Travel channel or history channel - can't remember which - has an episode they run about the history of the hot dog, etc. Which I guess is what promted me to start this thread in the first place. Anyways, they said that more hot dogs are sold per year in the chicago airport then anywhere else. I think :whistling: not sure that is the correct stat, but they sell a shit ton of hot dogs there.

gotta love their blue relish

I can't be in LA without going to Pinks and getting a chilly dog with mustard, a kraut dog and Mitz Orange Soda.

If I'm not grilling turkey dogs with cheese, mustard, and my wife's grandmother's homemade picked onions, its all about Ben's Chili bowl's Jumbo turkey frank with chili and cheese.
