On July 30th I had the lingest power outage in the 27 years I've lived here - a whole 15 hours. Do I decided to look into a generator. After shopping around I decided to bet a used one locally. So after looking at all the specs and my needs I found one about 12 miles away. After settling on a price on Sunday night the 6th I found somebody tp drive me down after work Monday, At 4pn Monday we got hit with what us being called the worst storm in 70 years, Hundreds of trees uprooted, roofs blown off etc,etc.

Needless to say I didn't get my generator but I did manage to borrow one before the fridge warmed up. So for the past 40 hours or so all I've been doing is sitting on the back porch drinking expensive booze and digging way deep in the humi.

i think this pretty gold foil wrapped one on deck will be #8....maybe 9

Precisely. Been there / done that. The MIL will never visit again during hurricane/typhoon season...

The ordeal is over after 47 hours and17 minutes. I'm buying a generator tonight. A Champion 6250 open frame inverter has caught my eye.

I don't drive and a couple of states over is a bit far to walk so I'll have it delivered. Nobody has come close to the limit in my house.

Jeez, the cost of the generator wan't bad but the additional 45% for cables, boxes, outlets and tax brought it right up there.

Just basic 240 wiring. I'm good with that but I will have it checked by an electrician from my club. Now I do admit I can't see the holes for neutral and groumd so I'll just follow thr old one .

Long as the wiring colors match up you should be good....BUT!, you sure will know if you are wrong

I bought a generator a few years back because we had lost power for nearly a week. Had to drive a couple hours away to pick it up (all the generators in my area were sold out immediately). It's the best investment I've ever made - because now that I own one, we no longer have power outages!!!
