We’ve discussed the proper use of “they’re”, “there” and “their”, as well as “your” and “you’re”. But I can’t recall anyone ever discussing the incorrect use of “are” in place of “or”. It’s not as common a mistake, to be sure, but it is similarly incorrect.
For example:
Granted, it’s a tough post to follow without correct punctuation, but it seems clear that this poster meant to use “or”, but instead used “are”.
Another example:
Again, it’s a bit hard to follow but “or” fits into the sentence whereas “are” is certainly (not “certainlly”) wrong.
Sorry, this is just a pet peeve of mine. I don’t mean to be the grammar police, cuz I certainly (again, not “certainlly”) make enough errors of my own. I just felt that this one was worth pointing out.
