It’s actually hotter and muggier today than it was yesterday. I spent a good portion of the morning and early afternoon cleaning the pool, so by the time it was done, the wife and baby girl were in their ‘kinis waiting to jump in. Ah well, I jumped in before they did! Oh man that water felt good. After a couple hours of fun in the sun, we’ve now dried out, had some lunch, and I’m going to have a smoke while the wife and baby girl snuggle in the living room.
The temperature gauge in the shade of the back porch is reading right at 90F with the RH right at 56%, but it feels much higher. I didn’t really want to spend a couple of hours smoking in this heat, so picked out a shorter smoke, a Tat Noella Reserva. There’s one dark looking wrapper on this cigar with very noticeable oil and one prominent vein running the length. The cigar is very firm, feels a little light in the hand, and with the cap punched I find the draw actually has a little too much resistance, however I have a feeling it’s going to be just fine for this cigar.
A short time later I’ve got the foot torched and burning good with a delicious aroma coming from the fresh burning embers. I take a couple of puffs and then a slow, semi-long draw, as I don’t want to take too much at once, and find that the spice is actually just right with the typical sweet vanilla bean, cocoa, and earth that I find with a lot of Tats, deeeeelicious!
The draw has turned out to be just right for the full-bodied smoke flowing through with the black pepper spice hitting the back of the tongue and throat perfectly. A medium gray ash is forming with the burn sharp. Flavors remain consistent as previously described, with an incredibly rich and lasting finish on the palate.
I’m finding the heat is making me feel rather sluggish and sleepy, however no time for a nap at the moment as I’m enjoying this Tat way too much to go get comfy on the couch. The bottle of water I brought out with me is now gone, probably should go refill it but I’m feeling too lazy at the moment, thoroughly relaxed on a gorgeous Sunday afternoon.
Heading into the middle third, the black pepper spice really mellows to a mild white pepper spice and the full-bodied smoke is very creamy and seems to become richer with what seems to be more depth. The flavors are still as previously described, however a delicious twang has come into play with the finish simply incredible. Man is this a good cigar!
What an absolutely amazing cigar down to the very nub! Sharp burn, strong ash, very rich flavors with a finish that was out of this world. I can say with much certainty that this was probably the best Tatuaje cigar I’ve had to date. I also have to give a huge thanks to Ed (Spivy) for his generosity in sending this cigar. That Regios Reserva he sent as well will be catching fire VERY soon!
