Growing too fast.
Woke up to a pretty miserable looking day with cloudy skies and a misty fog. I contemplated foregoing the morning smoke, but decided I’d go ahead and went looking for a smaller, short cigar. I decided on a Tatuaje La Riqueza No. 4.
The box shaped robusto was nicely constructed with noticeable oils in the dark brown wrapper. The weight felt a bit on the light side in the hand, so punched the many-layered cap with the smallest ring on my knife and tested the draw. It was perfect, so I punched the cap on out with the medium ring and commenced to torch the well-bunched foot.
First draw was a fairly big blast of very strong smoke and spice. A few more draws and the power and spice mellowed to a perfect amount letting the flavors really come forth. And incredible flavor it was! Cocoa, vanilla, earth, and dark roasted nuts were absolutely delicious on the palate. I would definitely not want to have to guess the marca of this cigar in a blind taste test, as I would most certainly get the country of origin wrong. There was a certain twang in it that was simply fantastic.
The burn was impeccable with a light gray, smooth ash that is typical with Tatuaje cigars, and a darker gray filler ash. Further in the smoke was definitely a good medium in strength with a perfect spice, however there was an incredible smoothness in the smoke that had tons of the flavors previously described.
What an incredible smoke in my opinion. I found it to fit my palate perfectly and will definitely be picking up more of these. I believe this may definitely be one of my top go to smokes.
