I tried a Tat Black after a stop to Holts and smoked it with my Dad. It reminded me of a brown lable Tat with more spice(almost peppery) and fuller bodied. It had a real rustic wrapper but burned well and held a good ash. All in all, not bad, but for $12, I'll stick to my Noella's.

Nice! I am still hunting down some black labels. Any place down your way have them? I know WCD had them about a month ago

I've got one, courtesy of JFields. I was going to smoke it during the USC rout of Illinois this Tuesday. I'll post some pics if I'm sober enough.

My opinion - somewhat stale. I'd rather have almost any other Tat I've tried.

And for $12 - a downright rip.

I forgot to mention that I smoked from the same batch as John - on the same day(we herfed at Holt's). So it's possible it was a bad lot. But I doubt they are anything to write home about, nevertheless. Still, it was only one cigar in each of our cases.

I have one resting! Probably will not smoke it until I get another one! Will see?

Thanks for the input, haven't come across any yet myself, but I'll still be on the lookout.

Found a Local B&M in Studio City that had a couple of bundles ... got one stick for myself yesterday and went back to get one for kiwifruit, first bundle was already gone.

They also have Opus Robusto's and Anejo #50's.

I didn't know Drappers had them. I guess i dont spend enough time down there. I dont know of any other shops in the area that would have them.

I've smoked the 2 that I had and I came to the same conclusion. It's a decent $8.00 cigar but it would make an awesome $6-$7 dollar cigar.

Very interesting. I actually found them to be smoother than the brown labels, but more flavorful. Time to have another one, I suppose.

I should add that the advice I received was to leave them in the foil, to allow them to wet-pack ferment for another 6 months or so after the time of purchase.

Just judging by the looks and packaging, I'd say these were made with the old-style Cuban fumas/cazadores experience in mind...I'll bet if you take moki's advice, they'll rock after some more box age in foil!

Just so everyone knows, I have a left-nut I'm willing to trade for a jar of these! :p

For those of us that are not lucky enough to get a whole bundle, should we wrap the singles or 5ers in everyday foil? Thanks Moki!

Foil was not an option, they were in a try behind the counter. Would aluminum foil actually work?

As a rule, it isn't a good idea to judge a blend from one sample. And I usually give any B&M purchases some humi time and didn't this time because my curiosity got the better of me while herfing upstairs at Mahogs with John and Ken.

That being said, I'd have thought they would be at least close to smoking condition being Tats bought at Holt's! Well, there's another $12 life lesson! :D

How big is the left nut? That could be the deal breaker. LOL

About the size of golf ball. Slightly used but in otherwise good condition. :p

This was my experience with the one I smoked. Found it to be very complex for such a young smoke. Maybe not so much flavor wise, but intensity/flavor wise. I did find mine to be smoother, and I thought it to be due to the wrapper more so than anything.

I had a similar experience to what JFields said. Mine was pre-production though.

Smoked one from Holts 5 days ago...less spice than a brown label. The wrapper smelled nice but it really didn't seem to come through on flavor. Overall a somewhat disappointing cigar for all the hype and rarity. Medium-Full strength. That being said, it was pretty moist and I will try another once they get to my preferred humidity.

Moki where did you hear about the aging technique? Just wondering since most cigars manufacturers claim "ready-to-smoke"-ability.

From Pete -- Black Plague is exactly right when he noted this might have something to do with the cazadores experience... :)
