I want to publically apologize to Jerry for derailing his sale thread. I am doing this in the open and not via pm because I feel I also need to apologize to some of the others that were involved. There are times when all of us have questions we need, or want answered, and for me this was one of those times. It was never about him with me, it was about a principle. It seems we all have differing opinions on the varying degrees of an active member and there will never be a solid, set in stone definition. I realize that a lot goes on behind the scenes that never comes out publically, but until people start popping out saying that "yea, I've dealt with him and he's a great guy", the rest of us here don't know that.

Lesson learned.

I think for most of us it was a good discussion on a topic that will continue to be revisited. You and I, Brian, are nothing but cool.
 
Brian - a very solid post! I had no horse in that race (although I do read a LOT more than I post :laugh: ) but I think this is yet another example of why CPass really is a special place :thumbs:
 
Brian, I know you weren't being malicious but offering an apology is a top shelf move nonetheless.

Sure, the sale thread did get derailed but I don't really see that as a big deal. The conversation that ensued was reasonable and civil and led ultimately to a further clarification regarding sales, activity, and the general intent of the BST&GB forum rules. On balance I think the conversation was worth the minor drama, particularly since Rod invited Jerry to relist his sale if he so chose (and if the smokes are even still available ;) )

IMHO the only thing you were 'guilty' of was trying to look out for the community. Nothing wrong with that.
 
Brian you had a legitimate concern and you posted about it. It was the right thing to do. It was all the other stuff that got in the way as it usually does.

Very nice gesture to apologize to Jerry in open forum!
