I don't want to seem petty, but when the agreement is 8$ sticks, that usually means $8 or greater.

The next day I go to my local smoke and spent $148 on 20 cigars and sent them out with a VR Unicos in a couple of packages and did not count them as sticks owed.

$148/20sticks=$7.40/stick average.

Edit: Maybe I read this wrong...you didn't count any of the 20 cigars as stick owed?

I just want you all to know that I never had any intention of not paying these guys off(and I believe they know that also). I have paid many poker sticks to some of these guys before the situation with my brother came up so I hope no one thinks I was not going to do so this time.

I know slcraiders and dkprlp are not happy with the sticks they got. Guys please PM me if the offer I made with you the other day before Friday is not acceptable.

I've always maintained that poker should be played for money. Everybody likes money and it's easy to count. This would eliminate the what is a stick worth controversies, that arise every so often. And Don, take Brian's advice, stop posting untill you pay your bills.

Yes you are correct. I only had $150. That is the reason I included a VR Unicos in a couple of the packages I sent out and did not count them toward the amount of sticks owed.

I also did not explain to the community as to why I did it this way. I thought there was no problem because I had not received a complaint from any of the guys. I got a PM from Jonsey asking me about the poker debts. At that time Fourthrail had already been paid. I told Jonsey that packages would go out as I really wanted to stay in the pass. I only had $150 and went the next day to buy sticks to live up to my word to Jonsey. In my haste to get sticks out to stay in the pass I picked up 20 sticks for $148. Again it is my fault I just put a dollar figure based on what I paid and did not take into account MSRP or the feelings of the guys.

I would certainly hope not. Since I have been here, it has been self moderated. I like that fact. However, on the other side you get situations kinda like this. At least he is willing to pay up, whether after "persuasion" or not. Some people just do not pay. I have pm'ed Rod about it about a week and a half ago, but have not gotten a response yet. New guys to the table we let in. Sometimes we get burned, but 99.9% of the time the new guys are just as stand up as us. Maybe there should be someone designated as the go to guy for poker issues? I hate to bring in more rules, but at least maybe then this type of situation could be avoided. It also could have been avoided if we had brought it public sooner, and for that I apologize as I was a part of this. Honestly, myself and the others are here no matter if there is a poker table or not (many other sites have em), but it would be a hell of a shame to lose something that a bunch of people do almost nightly to a few bay instances.

The Hoyo Du Prince should be here tommorrow and Jim said he would accept 5 of them on top of what he has already received. These will go out this Friday I will post a DC# in the thread.

I talked to Dkprlp the other day and told him I would send some higher end sticks with the next shipment. If I do back out of the group buy(again if this is going to put the host in a bad position I will not)either way as I have started to receive some of the money from my brother back I will be able to send his sticks also this Friday.

Don, I posted above about your pm. I have been in Ohio for the last few days. Otherwise I would have pm'ed ya. I have to say I personally would not have sent out that type of selection. Anytime premium and I owe, I make sure to err on the side of caution. I know you have had money problems with it, but the part that got the goat was the constant buying/selling/GB's. I do feel slightly wronged about the cigars. I feel as if I try to go above and beyond for sending when I owe. Honestly, I never thought you would send lower end sticks. Especially after Roger talked to you about that when you were newer. That was another reason.

I am very glad to see your posted apology to jim. I feel that is 100% the way to go. the reason it was posted after so much time was that it just needed to be out there in total. A few people knew all of what was going on, and it seemed as if more just had a very little idea. Which is more dangerous in this type of environment. I think you will find that with your apology, re-payment, and some time this will be MORE beneficial to you than just having whispers..... Just my personal .02 on that.

Grateful1- Maybe we should have a leaderboard. My pm to Rod was about making a list of people that did not pay up, which has nothing to do with this situation. It was just a pm out of curiosity, as it would end up being very few people I believe. I think though that a leaderboard would be slightly off since only a few of us play that much. It is a very interesting idea however, and something that would be good to look into.

Dsav101 - I received your PM last week, however I still have a ton of PM's to respond to. I was out of town since last Thursday, and just got back yesterday. Yes, please start a thread in the poker forum of all delinquent members and I will pin it.

We have discussed this many times in the past - what is (for example) an $8 cigar? I can go down to the local liquor store and buy an Antonio y Cleopatra for $8, even though it's really a 50 cent cigar. The inflation/taxes/etc put upon cigars does not increase their true value. If you're ever unclear as to the value of a cigar, just ask. You can also reference several reputable retailers who sell cigars AT MSRP and do not gouge.

We should also post some basic poker rules. Those who play poker often should be in charge of creating the rules, and I'll pin them.

I made a mistake thinking it was ok because I was told to take the time I needed. It was wrong to assume that on my part I screwed up debts will be covered in full on Friday. I am not sure what more I can say than I was wrong and am sorry.

I had an issue when paying out a member. I sent 5 habanos. Which in his mind were not "premium" prices. But they were still sticks he did not have access to. So in a sense they were a "premium" cigar in my logic. But I was wrong with this logic. Others said if you say min $10 dollar per stick you should have sent $10.oo sticks. So if I would have sent him 5 shitty cigars but they cost me $10 a piece he still would have complained I sent him horseshit cigars.

That is why I do not play poker anymore. Too much left to interpetation.

On the rare occasion I do play I always have ppl specify acceptable cigars. Example.

"Ok guys lets play for Habanos. Or lets play for Opus/Anejo/Padron/VSG. "

So what I learned from this thread.

-So be specific as to what cigars are at acceptable to the group playing
-pay off you poker debt immediately
-if you are in debt to various ppl do not continue to play until you can pay off your debt.
-dont expect to win other games in order to pay off your debts because you will always end up losing (ask any gambling addict)
-communication is the key

Hi. We specify every night we play that it is 8 dollar MSRP and over per stick. I don't think brands need to be involved, but to each his own. I have sent and received Habanos and that is a good little bonus, but as long as the sticks are over 8 dollars MSRP that is considered premium for the poker purpose. I do not know how it was before I cam here, but in the last year that has been the very standard of all our games. And yes, honestly it is stated before every game begins what the stakes are. Good points, Alex. Take any chance of ambiguity away before play starts. These could be a start of the "poker rules" to be listed and pinned as Rod requested. I'm guessing the poker players will be able to elaborate on these points as needed.
