Smoked some sticks in the last few weeks and wanted to share my thoughts. After reading reviews and receiving suggestions, I picked up some Pepin stuff and some Toranos of the Devil's site cheap.

- Pepin Cuban Classic Black Robusto, wow, now thats in your face taste, loved it, great taste and balance to me.
- La Aroma De Cuba Edition Especial Beli was not bad, I will let the other 2 rest more, it had hints of the Black Cuban Classic stick but more complex I think.
- Pepin Blue Label Toro was to peppery for me, not sure if I will let the other 2 rest. It will not change the taste much I think for me, am I wrong? How the Especials are, also this peppery?
- Tatuaje J21 Reserva was OK, I guess it is complex, which I am not there yet to understand, not sure if I buy again at these prices
- Tatuaje Noellas was worse than J21 and much harsher and just tobaco taste to me, will not buy again.
- Tatuaje Angeles was harsh, tobacoee, put it down after the first half and threw it out, horrible. Still have 3 Robustos in the humi from the same Red line, what to expect, not sure..

Torano Exodus Gold Robusto, wow, now thats in your face taste, delicious, one of my all time favorites now, right from the start! Love dit
Torano Silver, was great, woody, delicious, loved it as well!
Other Toranos I did not care for: Signature, Casa Torano and 1916. They were blend and offered nothing to me.

I still have San Crystobal Robusto to try from Pepin, Series JJ Maddy, and the new La Aroma de Cuba Label. How were your experiences with these and Tats, that everyone seem to rave about. Are they just not fore me or to comlex? But I am not sure if that is true. I had some sigars that I lobved and others seem to love them too.. I still have not tried a lot of Tats, like there Reservas, Black, Red, Trifadore, La Riquiza, etc.

The Tat Cojonu 2003 and their Lancero (Especiales) are two of my favorites. Might give them a try.

'Course if you don't like spicy cigars, none of these may be your cup of tea.....

Guaranteed in another year, you'd be smoking more Tats and less Toranos

You're just not ready for Tats and most of Pepin's stuff. Not to worry, your taste will change. Hell, years ago, I used to think NC Monticristos were the best cigar available. I wouldn't smoke one now if you paid me.

Doc.

I wanted to get those 2 and 2006, but they did not have any in stock that time, they are on the list though..

well, spicy I like, but too much pepper and just tobaco taste I do not. Lets say LFD DL Oscuro, Oliva V, and Casa Magana are spicy, no? But I love those!

Hahaha. I heard that before. But for me, since i do not smoke more then once a week, as long as it is tasty, and I can say mmmmwaaa, I like them.. I even enjoyed 5 year old RYJ Cedro Deluxe #1 CC and it was mild-medium, but them delicious.

I agree. I might not be ready for them yet, so I will let them sleep for now. I did like Pepin Black CC and La Aroma EE though. I 2nd Monte NC. I tried White label, Platinum, RYJ Cedro #2, RY Anny and hated them all, what a huge diff to CC ones.

If you liked the La Aroma de Cuba...you should most definitely like the San Crystobal.... which would lead me to think you'd like the My Father blends too...

The San Cristobal line is one of my very favorites; particularly the Fabuloso. As far as Tats go, try the Cojonu 2009; it may be more to your liking than the J21---although I love both, the '09 is sweeter and not as peppery as the J21.

And don't listen to these guys about the Torano Ex. '59---I still keep a handful of 'em in my humidor! They're not as complex or as full-bodied as a lot of what I smoke now, but they're solid and smooth and always dependably enjoyable.

I like the Torano 1959 Gold Exodus and have since I started smoking. I am not a big fan of the Tats, but I do like the Noellas a lot, finishing a box that is a couple of year old. To each their own, keep trying and smoke what you like.

You might also try the Alec Bradley Family Blend

You should try the Tat Dracs, they have this nice Lacquer taste and smell, no pepper what so ever. Just pure "I-didn't-let-the-paint-and-lacquer-on-the-box-dry-completely" box taste, you might like them better

This.

Believe it or not, your tastes will be different than other people's tastes. There are even some people out there that don't like Padron cigars. I know, it's crazy, but hey...everyone is different.

I will smoke San Crystobal tonight. Loved My Father LB 1922 Toro, was amazing, I did not try others yet.

Thats what I hear about Crystobal, I have Robusto size, 3 of them. I will give Cojonu a go if my local store has one. Last time I saw 2006 it was like $14 for it, nerveous spending that much after 2 Tats I did not care for. But will give it a try.

I think Noellas Reservas are the ones people rave about, the reg ones I did not care for. Loved the Silver and Gold Exodus, will always have them, they are not complex but in your face flavor

will do

Intrusting, will do..

So far I only had Padron Londres Maddy and liked it. Want to try 2000, Palmas, Churchill and Delicias in maddy and Natural, more poeple like maddys in Padron, is that right? How is the Natural different?

It’s fine that you didn’t like the Pepin and Tat stuff. You just pass those over and leave them behind for the experts, and whores.

I don't know if most people like the maduros better or not, but I do. To me, the naturals are smoother and a little more subtle. There are different flavors present in the naturals, as well. You'll just have to try them both and find out for yourself. You probably won't taste the same thing I do in them.

Doc, that made me laugh because it is true!

I am behind in this conversation....everything that has already been said is great advise. Give it time.

I did my friend. I loved My Father LB 1922 Toro, Pepin Black CC Robusto and LA Aroma EE Beli was good. That is it so far.

I have Palmas Natural sitting and waiting. Will give that a try. I want to get a PAM Robusto as well along with Corona Gorda VSG my next trip to B&M

Same here. Like many guys, I started with the maduro Padron smokes, but the naturals have a very different flavor profile that I really like. To this day, one of the best smokes I've ever had was a Padron '64 torpedo in natural wrap. The flavors of fine, well cultivated, properly cured, flawlessly blended tobacco were just incredible.

Taste is completely subjective, but as time goes on, more and more I find I prefer smokes that have natural wrappers.

One man's opinion - B.B.S.

I am an example of the opposite case. I used to buy into the myth that a darker wrapper was indication of a stronger, harsher cigar. So I used to prefer natural wrappers. Several months ago, my local B&M retailer insisted I try a PAM and I've been hooked on maduros ever since. I still have some natural Padrons which I enjoy, but nothing matches that rich chocolatey flavor of a maduro.

I completely agree with you, dlomonosov. The DPG blue labels are way too peppery for me. But as others have already said, taste is subjective. FWIW, I really like the Tat Havana VI and DPG My Father lines.

Just a note to add that it sounds like I started out just like you. I tried some Tats and just tasted strong tobacco. Thought it was me and my taste buds that were mistaken. Since hen I am a certified Tat and Pepin whore. Blacks are a stable for me -- loved the robusto from the first I tried it. And I also thought the Blue toro was too peppery. Now I have Blue robustos on hand all the time.

What changed it for me was smoking a few with some age on them -- particularly an Especiales with 2 years of age on it. Blew me away. Since then I haven't looked back. Which isn't to say that there aren't Tats I don't really like (tubos come to mind).

PM me your address and I'll send you an Especiales from 2007, same vintage as the one that really popped my Tat cherry.

thanks buddy. Thats nice of you. I also grew up in BK, Bay Ridge, by Verizano.. I saw your sig. PM sent.

Yea, that is what I decided to do, is to keep Blue Generosos and Red Tat Robustos for a few years and revisit, along with La Aroma EE. The black Robustos are great even fresh and I will smoke happily the other 2 I have left.

Smoked Padormo 10 anny Champaigne toro, nice creamy mild a bit woody smoke, enjoyed it much..
