dumb newbie question to follow!......

do they even make AF 8-5-8 SG anymore?  I was at a shop that had tons and tons of selection of AF cigars, got my hands on an 8-5-8 maduro (finally! my local shop doesn't have much of a selection!) and also on a Cuban Belicoso SG.....I have been searching high and low for an 8-5-8 SG but with no luck.  Are my efforts futile?  After some reading, it seems like many people have just as much trouble as me finding them.  I haven't smoked the cuban belicoso SG yet, but Have never had a SG (that I know of) and after reading this thread am really excited to try it.  Gonna let it rest for a bit longer though.

sorry for "thread-jacking"

They do. But it's gonna cost you an arm and a leg, and maybe your dog too... I am in no way affiliated with this site and I would not pay an 8-5-8 SG for that kind of price, but here it is:

:0 That's even higher than Casa Fuente in Las Vegas.

Full side of medium. Great smoke, especially with a little age.

Yep that's it. These and Opus are pretty much the only Fuentes I smoke any more. :)

I agree 100% with The Master.

The main difference I taste with the Cuban Belis vs the Chateau is due to the cedar wrap. IMHO if you don't like the flavor a cedar wrap provides you might like the Chateaus more.

The Chateaus are cedar wrapped, are the Belis?

yes.

I was gonna say, i don't usually smoke my cigars with the Cedar Wraps on...and yes, both are wrapped.

Yeah ignore my post about the cedar... major brain fart.

That's what I get for trying to think about 5 things at once.

Boy, does the DC Sungrown bring back memories. This was the first full box of cigars I bought, and I love them just as much today as ever. I have fallen in love with the Beli now, though, as I generally don't have enough time to get through a DC, but I love it when I do...

attention 858 sungrown seekers

word in the biz is that the contest with fuente is starting up again

urge your local retailer to sign up so they can get 858 sungrowns

the only way to receive 858 sg's is participate in the storefront contest.

that is all

To be honest the Cuban Belicoso is a Chateau itself ;)

Most folks just call them cuban belis but they are a chateau according to AF.

just thought I would pass that on.

This is what they call them over at the AF website that's all i know.
They are wrapped just like a Chateau except for the black band on th bottom.

gonna check today will post info tonight

I just tried one wednesday and I agree with you on the quality of these smokes. I bought a half box of them along with a box of Royal Salute SG's. If you wnat a real treat try one of them if you want a nice long smoke. The ones I bought at my shop have plume on them under the cedar wrap. These cigars are better than se...., well thay are pretty damn good if you can get your hands on them.

ok heres what i know about the contest to get s/g 858

your retailer has to have a fuente account
set up a display featuring fuente product, tell their rep they want to participate.
take a picture and send it to either the rep or fuente.

heres the kicker...the better the display the higher end s/g's theyll get.
was told the winner gets s/g hemis

as far as i know all participants receive 858 s/g to sell in their shop

Would you guys believe that I ran into SgtDave while fixing a pc here in Dallas County? He mentioned cigars to someone else, I overheard, and well, found out he's a member here. :0

Picked up a couple of these tonight. I am going to let them rest for a while before i give them a try. Hopefully i will get to them in the next couple of weeks.
