Smoked an AF Cuban Beli last night

Yup, my probably best SG cigar that is reasonably priced. I heard from some shop owners that they even prefer the Cuban Beli SG to the 8-5-8 SG due to the hype and unavailability of the cigar. I smoke about half a box of the Cuban Beli SG and they are all tasty... Yup... It is a good one.

These are crap! And the 3 boxes I have in a deeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep sleep will be evidence of to that someday! Until then, just waitin' for the plume! Am I drooling? Sorry.

Better than the Chateau SG in my opinion. They stay cool throughout the whole smoke down to the nub and the strength does not get intensified at the end where as the Chateau SG can get hot and mushy if you puff on it too much. But then that is my only personal opinion. Other people may have different experiences with the Chateau SG. Plus I kind of like the Belicoso shape...

dumb newbie question to follow!......

do they even make AF 8-5-8 SG anymore? I was at a shop that had tons and tons of selection of AF cigars, got my hands on an 8-5-8 maduro (finally! my local shop doesn't have much of a selection!) and also on a Cuban Belicoso SG.....I have been searching high and low for an 8-5-8 SG but with no luck. Are my efforts futile? After some reading, it seems like many people have just as much trouble as me finding them. I haven't smoked the cuban belicoso SG yet, but Have never had a SG (that I know of) and after reading this thread am really excited to try it. Gonna let it rest for a bit longer though.

sorry for "thread-jacking"

I've neer even seen a website that had the 8-5-8 SG's, no less tried one. I love both the natties and the maddies, unlike the chateau's (I like the SG's best, then the maddies, but don't care too much for the natties)

The 858 SG's are only sold to a few shops that won a Fuente contest a few years ago. From what I understand they were all rolled in 2002 and are sold to those select shops at just a few boxes a year.

They do. But it's gonna cost you an arm and a leg, and maybe your dog too... I am in no way affiliated with this site and I would not pay an 8-5-8 SG for that kind of price, but here it is:

Full side of medium. Great smoke, especially with a little age.

I agree. I keep these in the humi at all times. Great for an everyday cigar and with a little looking can be found at MSRP or a few cents below pretty easily. IMHO, the top of the heap as far as the sungrown line goes.

yeah it was a storefront contest, all participants received s/g 858 if i understand it correctly, our store didnt win so i dont know what the prize was

The only AF SG I have smoked is the Chateau Fuente; I'll have to give the Cuban Beli a try.

There is no good reason to pay over msrp for a 858 sungrown. There are too many choices with cigars just as good. The Cuban Beli, the Montesino sungrown Pyramid, regular Chateau sungrowns, a couple sizes of the Cuesta Rey Centrofino sungrowns. The 858's have reached a cult status which in my opinion is not warranted.

Newbie here, but a long-time reader. I just bought my first SG Cuban Beli and it's curing my humi for just the right occasion..!

Iggy!!! PM me with your snail mail, and I'll send you an 8-5-8 SG to try!
