I personally think that CP has outgrown it, and it's time for Rod to moderate or assign people to moderate. Because this **** is getting way out of hand now. Now Bill and BD are arguing too? Come ON guys. Stop. Just stop already. This Scott character is destroying the brotherhood here. Stop letting him get the better of everyone.

Allowing members to moderate has not worked well for this site in the past.

Tony, I dont know you, so please dont take this the wrong way. If you only knew the history of why this thread began, you would realize that "Banning, locking threads, and Moderating" is PRECISELY the reason! Most of us either got banned, suspended, or in my own case "removed by my request" from LTC. Most of the fuss was over moderators deleting and editing threads, having too many rules, and shoving them in our faces.

We happen to like this place just the way it is. Every so often, Rod in his wisdom will close a thread, but not without warning, and he never deletes posts.
People take banning here very seriously, and you really must screw up badly for it to happen. Whatever Scott has done, he doesn't deserve banning in my opinion, he will just be shunned by those that dont care for him anymore.

Scott surely is not destroying any brotherhood other than his own. What Bill said to Browny is nothing out of the ordinary around here, most of us have thicker skins than to be offended so easily. This thread is not an example of "getting out of hand", believe me, you can find much better examples if you do a simple search of say.........Puromooch, Eleuthardt, "election pass" :whistling: "just because" pass :whistling:, Barney, etc.........

I realize that this place has probably changed quite a bit from what you remember, but really, fire up a stick, pull up a chair and get caught up.
It's a great place, with great brothers, and I for one am glad to call it my home on the net.

Why should we have "moderators" to keep us in line? Are we not all adults? The way I see it, if a thread like this is created, I'd rather get to the bottom of it than simply lock it and let it go. Kinda goes along with my personality; if someone has something to say to me, say it to my face and don't hold it in. Locking a thread will only cause more problems, why not simply get it out in the open and resolve it? Sure, we may lose a few members, however every member we have lost to date has been deserving of a ban. I have nothing to hide. So if someone wants to stab me in the back, bring it on, but don't be a pussy about it.

If someone wants to outright start flame wars for no reason, then I will ban them. Threads like this are healthy for the community, I hate it when people keep their emotions all pent up, let it out. But let's not be babies, at least act adult.

So, Scott, I'm still waiting to hear from you. From my understanding you said you're going to start a pass called "FUCK. YOU CIGAR PASS". Please do tell why you have decided to make such an insulting comment towards myself and my community?

Ok, I was kinda planning on being done with this and just watching the rest of this play out, but just for the record, Emo's post is exactly what I was looking for. He has a definate difference of opinion. He doesn't agree with Leebo's methods, but he clearly states these differences in a logical, mutually respectful way. And what do you know??.......... The sky didn't fall in on him. He was allowed to disagree without any repercusions. The argument that some try to make about not being allowed to have a difference of opinion, or it's just because they disaree and thats the only reason they get called out is absolute crap.

I also don't really think anyone is actually sugesting that Leebo be anything "official" in any way. This stupid pole was obviously just a referendum on Leebo's tactics and an attempt to drum up opposition to those tactics. In other words stevehawk (I really hate it that your a Steve by the way) was just attempting to inspire people to fight his little battle that he wanted to wage for him.

For the record, I voted against Lee being the officail CP whatever it is. I like the guy. Half the stuff that comes out of his mouth though I wouldn't want "offically" associated w/ CP though. Lee has his "moments of clarity", which tend to polarize the group. While this serves its purpose, over the long run I think it's a wash. Sure he sweeps up the garbage, but it tends to make the site as a whole look cliquish.

While I think moderators have an important role in keeping a group healthy, I also believe they should be moderate. Which leee is not. Moderation by comittee seems to be the best option. Since we do not not have moderators, we le moderate by group consenus. Right or wrong, it works, even though we do have our growing pains.

If you really were to have a serious poll in which you were to pick moderators, the only fair poll would be a silent vote. By having a public poll with comments, that tends to sway the vote of those who are sitting the fence. While aiming at the fence sitters is the American way of politics, that doesnt make it the best option.

Just my $.02 cents. I am sure it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things.
