Scumbag Alert

In my opinion, karma needs to catch up with Paypal, the number of people that I know they've screwed with their ridiculous policies and their lack of care when dealing with cases of fraud is unheard of. Just because they don't have the means of prosecuting an offender doesn't mean that the expense should get put on the sender, for us it means being out of cash, for them it's a balance sheet item that can be used as a write-off in unrecoverable accounts. When I was stiffed by an online vendor, I filed a complaint with American Express, they immediately credited me for the charge and made it their problem to deal with the vendor.

Bottom line, the scumbag spoken of this thread needs to meet the comfortable cold bars of a prison cell, and Paypal should sink.

OH, and lets not forget that fine piece of workmanship they call the 'Dispute Resolution Center.'
They'll resolve a dispute for you, on their own timetable, and if you dont like the resolution. TOUGH. It still stands..

I've been dealing with PP for many years and have had a few up's and down's with them. But
over all, it's been a very good relationship. PP is great for paying the BOLT's I've worked with.

I had a guy on Ebay rip me off. He kept his PP account empty until he would buy something and then just put in enough to cover the transaction. PP worked with me and waited until he put money in and froze his account. After 30 day's of back and forth, he claimed he delivered on my purchase, I got my money back.

So, PP works for me!!!

This is actually very close to what I told a "Supervisor" this morning. I've used PP for years as well and have always had problems with them, actually had quit using them for a very long time.

I know it generally causes extra fees for the seller, but this is why I always use a credit/debit card to pay through PP. That way, if something goes wrong I can get my bank to handle it and they can argue with PP.

I can't help but wonder, if spivy paid with paypal did he take steps to get his money back? It would seem like a simple action, either through paypal or his bank or credit company.

Good question

Which brings up the question, if spivy did get his money back how come there are still outstanding debts in the deal?

It would seem these are questions that will go unanswered.

As far as the whole paypal situation is concerned, it's a risk you take when making transactions with them. If you don't like their policies then use a different payment method, there are pluses and minuses to every option, you have to pick what you feel the most comfortable with.

Policies schmolicies. Just the past three days I've been told three different things from three different people, as if they're making it up as they go. Why do I use them? Who else am I going to use for someone that only has cc to pay with? Not to mention its a heckuvalot faster than 3 to 5 days mail with the potential of getting lost. If there's somewhere else out there, please let me know as I'd love to tell PP to KMA.

There are tons of online payment methods. Paypal is the predominant one, and thus the one we all turn to, but they have a long history of shifty policies and bad resolutions; the simple fact of the matter is you have to decide whether you want to deal with them or not, if you don't then find another way to pay for your cigars or do without.

Please, provide via PM other similar methods that can be used as I obviously prefer not to use them going forward.

I also have bad experience with pp, so I will use Google Checkout if it is an option.
However, I am not sure about the tobacco policy for Google Checkout.

I don't know about down there but I've frequently used an email money transfer when buying things privately up here.

Basically I go to my banking website and chose to pay a bill just as I would my hydro or gas and chose "email money transfer" instead of Hydro or Gas. Then I enter in the amount and the email of the person I'm sending it to with a security question. That person then gets an email with a link to a website letting them pick their bank (we've only got like 4 here in Canada) then they log into their banks online banking and poof, the money is deposited into the account they choose once they answer the security question. Of course both parties have to be enrolled in online banking.

That's similar to the way PayPal works since they also use your email address to identify people.

Didn't eBay have an escrow option once upon a time. It seems to me that this would be ideal. You agree on a transaction with someone and the buyer places money in an escrow account. The seller gets verification of funds then ships the goods. The buyer receives the goods then notifies the escrow holder that the funds can be released. Sure you could have a never received/shipped issue but the buyer/seller could only do this a few times before raising red flags.

This is more or less what Amazon does when I sell books and such. Buyer buys, I ship, buyer receives product and confirms receipt of said product, Amazon 'releases funds,' and I get paid. This whole process shouldn't be that effin hard.

I've had many a problem with PP. Sometimes they come through; sometimes they don't. Therefore, I only PooPal with those I trust (BOTL here). Otherwise, all transactions (when I'm buying) go through my personal bank. Of course, with the economy in the shi**er, I have to be EXTRA careful. What is phrase...caveat emptor?

Good luck, Greg!

The guy's still signing on at OH, sent me a PM that he contacted PP and cancelled the transaction. Sure nuff, he did.

That's terrific, now ask him for his real address so you can send him an appreciation gift for being so helpful, I'm sure there are a few people who wouldn't mind meeting him in person to practice their home-run swings.

Thats a really good idea especially when you are dealing with someone you dont know/trust!

That's good to hear Greg! I know you're happy! Still no word from the people I contacted. But for some weird reason I knew I wouldn't...
