Saving cigars...

I never did smoke that millennium the other week.

Perhaps I'll sit down with the Millennium or the Anejo this week, if i have a little time that girl is willing to sit outside for.

She wants to walk around campus tonight so....perfect opportunity?

I can't bring myself to smoke any..... I just buy a 40 box of Arturo Fuente curly heads.... nope... not even the curly head deluxe and smoke those whenever I feel like having a premium.... so take it for what it's worth but I a waiting for the exact right moment to smoke those beautiful, great smelling premiums for when I am out of this shithole. ......... for instance..... today...... you know what I had? I had an ACID blodie with a fruit punch gatorade to accompany it...... SOULDOG.... I know you were in Iraq for a little bit so I know u Know what I'm talking about. And I know you are a post whore so you'll click on the view latest post link and see this. LOL JK..... but seriously.... what more can you ask for? a great cigar and a great day of poker is the perfect day................................. I think I have a poker prodigy from Iraq here in the making. I'll let you know in a few months.

I was on the road so much with my last job, I really miss having smoking/poker buddies near by, I don't have any anymore, heh.

I happen to know for a fact, that the kind, generous, handsome, virile, brave, clean and reverent brother who gifted you those cigars wants you to smoke the goddamn things.

Doc.

Unless you are specifically aging them, because you are experimenting, or are familiar with the particular cigar's aged characteristics, Smoke em if you want to. You only live once.

Brilliant. Of course, most of my sticks are in the same price range, so I'm not "losing" a lot or "gaining" a lot if I smoke one in particular.

That said, I just divided up my stockpile into four bags - some Angel 100 1961's in each, some Consuegra #9's in each, those being my two bundle purchases, and then spreading out single purchases. When a bag gets emptied, it goes to the back of the rotation and gets refilled over time (either from donations from the other bags or from new purchases).

The goal is to keep myself trying new things but not "hoarding" favourites. We'll see how it works out. Just like me to totally overcomplicate a simple idea.

Maybe we can get the Boy Scouts to add verile and brave to the motto. :sign:

First of all, Bruce, the motto is "Be Prepared". The Scout Law includes Brave. Virile, however might be a problem.

It's kind of obvious that I wouldn't stand a chance on the BSA board. At least I have to sense not to call you a scholar and/or a gentleman.

My best friend and brother on the boards passed away late last year. We had traded, split and bombed back and forth for nearly five years. Just before he died he sent me a bunch of great cigars. I smoked one in memoriam and will continue to do so each year until they are gone or until I'm gone. I guess my point is we all have our reasons for smoking or saving cigars. As with everything else in our hobby, to each his own.

These two posts just changed my outlook on smoking my goos stuff

My opinion is a bit reductionist, but here it is in a nut shell:

I like cigars, I know I'm going to die some day. I'll be pretty pissed off at my self if I die with a humi full of "special occasion" smokes. Through the lens of death, being not dead must seem like a pretty special occasion.

Having said that, I am also a hypocrite regarding some of my sticks :D

Every day is a special occasion.

K, I'm on it.

Tonight. Would you like a review?

K, smoked the Davidoff Millenium that I've been saving for a month or 2. I now have a good idea of what Heaven tastes like.

I want another. Now.

Good thing there is a huge Davidoff store in the Venetian.

I know many of us have nice collections and big stashes of cigars. I also know that many of us have a few that are saved for the right moment or even destined for one specific occasion. I used to do this until the day I lit the Cohiba Siglo III that I had been saving specifically for the day of my Daughters Baptism. With great anticipation i lit it and discovered that the dowell rod in my hand was worse than any El Producto I could have spent 75 cents on at the drug store. I was bummed and it sort of ruined my day. Lesson learned!

For me the right moment is that moment when I know I have the time to smoke a cigar and really focus on it. That's all it takes. My wife has class tonight and I know that once the kids are fed the WII will occupy them for the evening. I'll have two hours on my deck in nice weather with no distractions. What better time to pull out one of the better smokes?

Every day is a special occasion, there is no way to better describe it. Life is short. Not to be morbid but I was reminded of that this morning at a prayer B-fast at my kids' school. The beloved music teacher who has groomed her students and whose students, including my daughter, love her as a second Mother will never see the trip to Italy her "all-star" group has been planning for two years. The cancer in her body won't allow her to go, and may kill her before they even leave.

Every day needs to be savored and celebtated. If you are like me and have two hours on your deck with nice weather and no distractions, why not smoke a special cigar to just say thank you for the gift of those hours. You don't know what tomorrow will bring.
