RTDA Herf

I arrive the night of the 14th and leave around noon on the 20th. Other than trying to fit in a couple of shows, I should be available to herf most evenings. I know of at least one other herf being organized on another board, but they don't have a venue as of yet.
 
I'm going to the RTDA Show and the CAO party. I plan on just doing the first day of the RTDA Show while my wife is gambling and getting massages. Is there anyone that I can hang with during the RTDA convention to show me the ropes?

Who got you in? I don't know what you know about it but it's a trade show! Most of us guys who are going are going to be working! I do a good chunk of my buying for the holiday season and the rest of the year at the show. They introduce new cigars and such but it's really not for Joe Consumer(no offence). If you are going in under the baner of someones store be mindful that the companies are looking to do business. They are extremely busy it's really bad to waste their time.

That's why I'd like to hang out and chat and try some new smokes from all of the vendors. I'm sure someone won't mind a tag along BOTL to hang out and observe the whole process.

I know we love to have fun but If you think it's standing around and trying samples from all the vendors you got another thing coming. I bring my own cigars so I have something to smoke. The show is work! It's not open to the general public for a reason! Members are there to buy merchidise! I love the fact that you are excited about new products but the fact is you have no place being there! All I'm saying if you get in and you don't work in the business be respectful of the people that got you in. You can damage someones business relationship with a company by harrasing a vendor for samples, asking for an autograph, Ect. Respect the people that get you the things you enjoy smoking!

Smokyballs has it right. This is not a place for the general public. If you are not there to buy merchandise for a shop or are a rep for a company, you don't really have any business being there. It kind of just turns into a free Big Smoke event and gets treated as such.

I am not in the business and do not own a shop. However, I go to the RTDA and represent a local tobacconist as his buyer. I go there to interact with his sales reps and spend his money. He trusts me to do so. I try to not only not damage his relationships with the vendors, but I actively work to improve those relationships. Hell, I've become friends with several of the reps at the show. But that's the thing...I'm there to work. When I am on the show floor, I am there to work. I am there to try new products and decide whether they have a place in the store. Is it fun? Of course. Is it work? You bet.
 
Hey, Tenpin! I'm working with Stinky at his booth/space/area. I am from across town, Norcross. Stop by and see us and we'll do some coffee and smokes at Stinky's Ashtrays. That goes for anyone else on the floor, stop by and get some free coffee. Staying at the Casino Royale.
 
Since we don't appear to get a herf together (I don't see that there is any time), I will be wearing a nametag at the all the events that will read "CP-Tenpin". Maybe others will follow suit. In any event, if you see me, please come introduce yourself, as I would love to put some faces with names!
