In terms of CLASS, we know that every person's definition is slightly (and sometimes substantially) different from the next person. But for all intents and purposes, we'll make a distinction here. "Classy" is defined as mid-grade level sticks, such as CAOs, AVOs, Toranos, Padron Thousand series, Punch, etc... In terms of dollar value, between $3 and $8 per stick would be more than sufficient.
At least three of the cigars he sent are indeed more than $3 per stick. Still, I would tend to agree that he could have and probably should have done better. The whole point of the CLASS aspect is to live up to the spirit of the PIF, not skate by with the bare minimum.
I've priced out the cigars he sent:

$10.50 -- DR Cohiba (Churchill?) (assuming it is a "red dot")
$4.60 -- HdM Excalibur Limited Edition Silver Label (Robusto?)
$5.00 -- A/F Hemingway (Short Story?)
So yeah, the initial package was really the barest of bare minimums, and I could see how that would rankle some feathers given that he clearly could send better cigars. The make up package, if things arrived intact, should have taken care of things. I guess the issue people have is why a makeup package was necessary to begin with.

...not to mention that the second set of cigars came mangled having not been properly packaged and the Ancient Warrior was an immediate re-gift from his PIF package... But I believe you are absolutely right, Moki - he skated by on bare minimum. Given what he has shown was at his disposal, I find that absolutely appalling, not just suspicious...
As far as him sending out a second make up cigar - that's fantastic... But - again - is that just to appease this situation, or is it a way of proving he "gets" it. In my book, words are only meaningful if backed by actions. Not only in this situation, but all others he is involved with...
IMHO - if its take, take, take - and squeak by on PIF's - his actions will speak louder than words...
And I really don't want the new guys on this board to think that I'm bitching about cheap cigars being placed in the PIF - that's not what this is about. If that's all you have - great! Don't think you can't participate in a PIF... But if you've got a humidor the likes of Richard - and you're sending out cheap cigars - do my a favor - don't participate. There are quite a few members on this board that have a very nice stash and do not trade or send smokes out. That's their business. But don't build your nice stash on the labor of those that are generous if you're not generous. That is just plain not fair to the ones that participate and act generously...
I'd venture to say that there are quite a few on this board that would gladly relinquish their place in a box split of choice cigars to anyone else who asks. I'm truly left wondering watching Richard's actions on this and other boards if he would do that...

Sorry but anyone expecting him to throw Cubans and super premiums into a PIF just because he has them is an asshole. He got crap, he gave crap, it is that simple.
The second package more than made up for the alleged short comings of the first. The Opus he sent out is worth more than that entire piece of **** package he received.
You guys in my opinion are completely wrong getting all over this guy ( who I don't know from Adam and could give a **** less about). PIF's are not trades, they are not blinders, they are not box pass puts and takes. They are one guy sending cigars to another. If I received the cigars this guy did, not in a million years would I be sending cubans and other nice smokes, expecting that is total bull ****.

Again, I hate to beat a dead horse, but I do NOT like anyone coming in here and taking advantage of the work of the BOTL's, without investing in the board themselves. Why should that be fair? We rip on the guys who take a profit from the cigars they pick up from trades, box splits, etc, and you suggest we should let this guy do this??? I don't see the difference, to be honest with you...
Master - you choose to do what you wish with your cigars - and you are VERY generous. No one FORCED you to do that, it was by your own choosing. IMHO - I believe you understand the "Love of the Leaf". That's not how I see the situation with RPB. I suggest to you if Richie wants to act as he does, he needs to develop his own sources and not take advantage of the opportunities here. Participate in the conversations, but stay out of any trading, passes or PIF's if he's going to be about taking care of himself. He's the guy everyone hates in the box pass that tries to pull the fast ones in grabbing the primos and replaces it with crap cigars no one else wants - bitching all the time that it's a fair trade... Not cool...

Master, while we respect your decision, your tastes may be too high browed to see a distinction between the cigars he received (decent, NOT crap) and the cigars he sent out (NOT decent and defintely crap).
The Opus he was planning to send out has NOTHING to do with the PIF... if he chose do so, then that's great. It doesn't change the fact that his PIF was still a sorry play.
The point has been made, Richard clearly isn't replying anymore, and this is over, IMO. No need to stir up more dissenting opinions on this. We're about to see a "dead horse".

Anyways, I saw this comment in his thread, and at first it struck me as easily misunderstood. Just so we're all clear on this: I organized a box split with 12 other people. At the time I posted the thread, the cigars were a "pre-order". I made it very clear what the time frame on this was (it was about 2 1/2 weeks. I also made it very clear, as everyone involved can attest to, that folks could send their payment whenever they wanted, however nothing would be cashed/deposited on my end until I had the cigars in my hands and ready to ship. And that's exactly how it worked out, I deposited the funds I had rec'd on the way to the post office. I didn't even allow a few days to be sure no one was a deadbeat sending me a bad check.
So I hope no one read this and had any bad feeling about my ability to do what I said I was going to do, and to be more than fair regarding how I went about this.
