I just bought one for 6 bucks at my local shop. It was a recommendation from the owner. I'm gonna let it sit in one of my humidors for a couple weeks before I smoke it. The smell from it is so strong it overpowers the rest of my cigars in that humidor. And its construction seems to be good quality. I have smoked an RP 1961 in the past, one of the best cigars I've ever had. Am I to expect the same quality from the 1990?

I 'm a big fan of both the '90 and '92 Rockys. A couple of years of box age make them downright splendid! :)

I think the 90 is the best out of the two. Had a 1961 and it was okay, nothing spectacular.

I have had both. I like the 90 better than the 1961. The 90 will be better with some age.

One of my favorite cigars. I always have at least one '90 robusto in my humi.

Quality? In my opinion RP's are some of the finer quality cigars on the market today. They are always rolled well, and I've never had a draw problem from them. I've gone through a box of 1990's, '92s, and a few decades and never had one lick of trouble.

For some reason I have been straying from maduro smokes... for about the past 6 months I don't think I've had a maduro at all. weird

I must agree. Rocky is really a perfectionist about which cigars make the cut. His cigars are always constructed beautifully, burn evenly, and have a good draw.

The '90 is my second favorite RP, next to the Decade. Especially with age on it, as others have mentioned. I think you will be pleased.

If you like the '90 then try out the Fusion...it's a blend of the 1990 & 1992. I'm not much of a fan of these, but I do like the RP Fusion MM Lanceros.

BTW, try looking on C-Bid for the RP lines....they can be had VERY cheaply for a fiver. I'm all for supporting my B&M, but $6 for one of these is a lot when you could get 5 on C-Bid for ~$18.

You forgot to mention how great the tastes are! A good cigar isn't defined just by the way it burns. From experience, RPs need alot of age to become smokeable.

But aren't they made from tobacco harvested in 1990 and 1992?

Haha, yeah, they must have harvested A LOT of tobacco those years! :0

I have a few boxes of the 1992 Churchills. I really like them. Haven't had the 1990's in a long time.

First two boxes I ever bought were both RP '92 churchills. Kept all of one, did a box split with a friend on the other . . . White Ash was having a killer sale on 'em at the time, as I recall.

I still find the 90 and 92 very pleasant smokes, albeit not quite as strong, spicy, or complex as what I tend to go for nowadays. Have noticed I need to "sip" rather than "draw" with them, as they can get a bit hot otherwise.

RP's earliest blends---90, 92, Sungrown, and Edge---are still his best, imho. His quality control's always been good but for my palate, his blending skills have been really hit or miss.

Agreed, they are very tasty as well. Age certainly will do them justice as well.

thank,
