The world lost a great musician today. In spite of losing his sight at the age of 1, he accomplished more than 99.99% of the world could ever imagine.

God Speed Jeff. Go jam with Jimi, SRV and the rest!!!!

Wow, That's a total surprise!
Only 41 years old. I had no idea he had cancer all his life.

Damn!!! :( Healey really could play, never got to see him play but saw B.B. King play once and he said Healey was a great musician. I listen to something by him at least 3-4 times a week as it comes up on the i-Pod. RIP. That's gonna be one helluva jam session upstairs this week. Jeff and william F. Buckley all this week - what a shame!

Wow, the good ones don't last long enough. 41 years young!!! RIP brother.

I really enjoyed his music. I didn't know he was blind until I had already been listening to his stuff for a year or two. I never knew he had cancer. :(

A true inspiration and genuinely amazing musician. I'm was saddened to hear this.

Together again, after all these years

Dalton: So, you play pretty good for a blind white boy.
Cody, Band Singer at Double Deuce: Yeah, and I thought you'd be bigger.

:( I logged back in to report this as soon I saw it.

R.I.P. Jeff

Your music will keep you alive forever!

This makes me sad. He's one of my favorites. I never did get a chance to see him live (or SRV, or Roy Buchanan). RIP Jeff.

I am flattened by this loss. I was fortunate enough to see Jeff play at the local club here in Buffalo (the Tralfalmadore cafe) about 6 years ago or so. His playing prowess has not diminished an inch from the first time I ever heard him play. A funny thing happened during the show that I'll cherish for years.

There I was with my buddy Phil to my right, sitting back and enjoying this guy's technique (we were both guitar players at the time). During a quiet moment in between songs, my buddy gathered some courage and yelled out for a favorite song to be played (one that was written with Mark Knopfler).

Phil yells out "Hey Jeff, I think I love you too much!" Upon hearing this, Jeff got the biggest shit eating grin and yelled back "hey buddy, I don't bend that way.... you come up here and ask me that and I'll bop you one!" To which I yelled back "No, Jeff.... I think he just wants to hear the song!" To which Jeff replies "Well then, the proper way to ask would be "can you please play...." to which everyone in the audience laughed. Upon hearing that my buddy and I both yelled in unison "ok Jeff, Will you PLEASE play I think I love you too much" Jeff, with a smile and a shrug of his shoulders says "Eh, why the hell not!" and launched full throttle into that song. It was a keeper, if there ever was one!

Man, will I miss that bugger... I heard he was to have an album released this year.
