I love God of Fire and the Carlito is my preferred choice. I haven't smoked any of the new 2006's yet but I want to buy a box. Has anyone smoked a 2006? If you have could you please give me a review of it and describe the flavors and say how it either differs or compares to the 2005's. I know I'll buy a box regardless, but I just want to make sure this round didn't turn into dog rockets, haha. Thanks and gig 'em.

I smoked one about 6 months ago. Therefore it would be tough to give you the descriptive review you're looking for. I did think it was one of the finest cigars I've ever had. Everything about it was bliss. I remember loving every minute of it and thinking how surprised I was that it in fact did live up to the price tag.

Sorry I don't have the specifics, but I sure do wish I had a box sitting around....hope that helps.

I have a box of 2005's that I haven't ever gotten around to sampling. I keep thinking about them, but I never seem to find an occasion worthy of firing one up. Perhaps I will have one tomorrow in remembrance.

I've smoked a couple of the current release and they taste exactly the same as the earlier releases in my opinion. I'm not going to get into a full on review, but they're fantastic and fantastically consistent cigars. I always get the current year and smoke two, put the rest away until the next spring, then have at it. It's the one real indulgence cigar I allow myself on a regular basis because they are THAT good.

My local shop has a ton in stock, I might have to stop by and get myself a couple. I too was curious on what others have thought of this cigar, since spending close to 30 on a cigar is step for me. I didn't mind spending it on the Padron 80th, since I love the Padron line and it was an incredible smoke.

If you guys like these, hit me up when I have my retail hat on. I have a number of these in stock.

What LilBastage said. Plus, with the recent release they cut down on the extravagant packaging and lowered the cost by $10/cigar.

The Carlito is the Churchill sized one, right?

Not that good IMO, and certainly doesn't live up to it's price and hype. Give me a RyJ Churchill any day over this: They share a simmilar flavour profile but the Cuban kicks the Dominican's ass, shattering it's coccyx bone and leaving it rolling on the floor in shame and agony.

Pish-posh.

"Carlito" doesn't refer to the size, but rather the wrapper used on the smoke. Check out the GOF catalog at the GOF website. You will find the Carlito smokes in several different vitolas.

The DC comes with a wrapper from Ecuador. I'm pretty sure the Carlito is Cameroon (Don't hold me to that though).

Edit: Added Linky ---> GOF Webstie

You are correct.

I really like the GOF selection. I think down this part of the world there is a preconception that they are a strong cigar. When really they are medium, but full bodied,(IMHO). I guess once again taste is subjective, but then I am biased towards Cameroon wrappers. (I am not saying they are all good, as I have had some crappy Cameroon wrapped cigars).
