Regional Foods and Products

In and Out is about the only stand-out regional chain that comes to mind.

I don't know if these are in other citys, but latenights around Hollywood and the 'hot spots' downtown you can get the LA version of the Dirty-Water Hotdog which is a big dog, wrapped in bacon and cooked on a make-shift grill made out of a sheet-pan over a propane burner(s) all mounted on a shopping cart. The dogs are served w/ grilled onions and peppers, chilies, and mustered catchup and mayo. Sketchy yes, but after a long night of drinking etc they REALLY hit the spot.

LA might be home to the highest concentration of really kick-ass roach-coaches too. The mobile taco buses are plentiful and almost always excellent.

In my hometown of Sedalia, the "gooberburger" is huge. Basically a hamburger covered w/ peanut butter. I don't know for sure 'casue I've never actually had one.....but I here they are good :blush:

In n Out Burger started in So Cal and has moved to a few other states. It's not what's on the menu that's great, it's what's not on the menu.

Show up a 1:00am and order a 4x4 animal style and a shake and your hangover will be greatly reduced the next day.

The Hot Brown is a local gut busting, heart stopping dish of pure goodness. Pretty much a day ending coma inducing meal. Oh but it is so damn good
