So Gentlemen, this promised to be one hell of a show and the band from Los Angeles delivered in a big way. They played at the Target Center, which is located in downtown Minneapolis and isn't really the best venue for a show (at least not my kind of show), but they made the best of it and played in an absolute frenzy for nearly two hours. Zach was so exhausted from running the stage left to right and back again that he literally had to crouch over and catch his breath through many of Morello's solos. Watching the pit from above (I'm too old for that chit) was a show of it's own. There must have been a good two thousand people down there slamming back and forth throughout. It was an amazing sea of moving flesh. The band opened with Bombtrack and played the entire song in full Guantanamo jumpsuits with black hoods intact. Here's a couple links that capture the energy pretty well.

You can also do a search for an impromptu performance the band tried to play at the state capital. I won't include that here as it is political in nature. The band was not allowed to perform and were blocked by police twice upon trying to take the stage. Zack and the band then took to the crowd and did a couple songs acapella.

It's also worth noting that at the end of the Minneapolis show, the band took a long bow and ended with Zack asking the crowd to show some discipline around the police and to stage any demonstrations peacefully. In my opinion, that request avoided what could have been a lot of knuckle heads causing hell out in the streets afterwards.

Overall, this was one of the best shows I've seen.

I hadn't seen you around for a few days, I thought maybe the pit swallowed you.

All I can say is I'm glad I stayed away from the Cities last week.

A good friend of mine rode his bike through the city and said St. Paul looked like it was in a state of emergency. Helicopters flew overhead, chain fences surrounded everything, police in riot gear everywhere... Sheer f'n madness.

I saw the show and flew to Steamboat, CO for a ten year Peace Corps reunion the next day.

Looks like a good time! While I don't follow their protests/politics, these guys are amazing artists & musicians that have such a raw energy and power to their music, and kick a$$ live.

No mash pitting? Wimp! :sign:

You can only do it for so long, man. I remember going to a concert a few years out of college and hitting the pit for most of the show - while my buddy and I are pretty big guys and held are own, the next day we were on the couch pumping Advil and limping around the house  . Good times!

So what's the deal with these guys, are they getting back together or what? I saw Cornell was leaving Audioslave, but didn't see any announcement about RATM.

Great musicians. Mornonic Politics.

Wish more musicians would keep their politics to themselves. And just entertain me!

I'm glad they are back together... they are a great band. If only they could get along.

SWEET! My 1000 Post!

I would love to see them live one day. I have several of their albums and a DVD with some live performace...they rock.

Unfortunately for you, I think that's the sole purpose for the bands existence. :whistling:
