Thanks to the brothers who do smoke pipe Imfinally bit the bullet and purchased one. I am a ole time antique furniture restorer so I get into the wood more than the name. Yes, I did look at the likes of Peterson etc. but could not find anything that matched this Armellini because of the character I saw. The grain is straight, the shape I thought fit me. The silver ring is marked 925. and I liked the top of the bowl with those ( rusticated ? ) areas. It will smoke with a filter or no filter ( unsure what difference that makes ) and I am happy with my purchase. I might add this was purchased off eBay from Italy, and arrived in five days! Now to find a proper lighter ( suggestions accepted ), some tools, cleaning sticks and tobacco and we can give it a try. Anxious to contribute to this forum.

Looks even better than the ebay photo you'd posted ... congrats!

Nice pipe!!!! Just starting with it I would either use matches , or a decent cheaper lighter.
The only difference I find between filter and no filter is filters irratate me.

Beautiful pipe! I don't have ant recommendations on lighters. My experience with butane lighters is spotty, so I've decided to go with cheapy disposable. For pipes I use matches, and then when the wind blows them out before I can light the tobacco, I curse the damn matches.

Ed, beautiful pipe! I absolutely love the smooth/textured rim. I love the pipe. Enjoy.

Gorgeous pipe. Enjoy Ed. Let’s see some pics of you smoking it 👍. Do you need any pipe tobacco ?
