There is strong suspicion that the rash of 'unreleased' and 'prerelease' Cubans circulating the boards (especially on OLH) are at best not what they are purported to be. While this may be common sense, exercising extra caution is probably prudent. The issue migrated over to ICC and is/was being debated there. It appears some of the testers are fully convinced these are counterfeits. Caveat by saying I don't know the testers personally, nor the source(s) but a PSA seemed prudent.

Crap! I don't want to have to sign up for yet another forum just to figure it all out.

I would print to PDF and host the thread but I am pretty busy at work today so just in and out.

Long story short, Professor Spiffy is lecturing people on knowing your source for impossible to find cigars.

Yeah Spivy wants to educate the guy! Interesting thread to say the least.

Thanks for the Cliff notes Tom. That name says it all.

ETA: Maybe I will have to sign up just to see what the prefesser has to say.

Isy the similarities are scary between what happened to Spicy and this guy.

Perhaps Ed learned a valuable lesson here and would prefer that others not be taken or get caught up in the chase for rare or HTF cigars like he did?

His choice of words may be a bit strong, but let's not lose focus of the real issue of potentially counterfeit cigars being sold on certain websites. I'm no Ed apologist, he's a grown man and can handle himself. But I also know that none of us is perfect....EDIT...well, except Doc. :D

Good save!

Rob approach is everything in life. Ed has learned his lesson, unfortunately his approach in this matter is flawed.

Gary post the picture here!

Interesting read.

Something about his posting really irritates me in the worst way. Phil was right in saying Ed didn't like it when everyone came down on him and needed to tone his approach down.

He may of learned his lesson, but it still comes off as hypocritical with his being so aggressive on his high horse.

I just read that whole thread...and unfortunately we've all seen this before. I'm not one to chime in on these types of events as you guys with more knowledge than me should handle these situations...but when I read SPIVY'S comments towards the end, all that came to mind was a line from Jack Buck when Kurt Gibson hit that home run in the '88 World Series...but with a small change...

"I can't believe what I just read!"

Rob, with all due respect...because SPIVY went through the exact same scenario, I would think he would be a little more benevolent towards Ryan's plight. This is the same guy who completely DISAPPEARED when his deal went bad and this guy Ryan was sending out cigars and posting his every move to try to get to the truth.

The truth was coming out WITHOUT SPIVY'S comments...plain and simple. His comments were purely a personal attack. Sorry, but a hypocrite is a hypocrite no matter what the circumstances surrounding it are.

What I don't know about the rare cigar market could fill a warehouse, but it seems like every other day this TL guy has pre-released, unbanded rarities for sale. It just doesn't seem possible. Does anyone who as dealt with him know anything about him? Like where he resides? Whether he takes medical supplies to Cuba on his boat? :sign:

You hit the nail on the head in my opinion Clint. As I stated in that thread there are well known well sourced vendors that can only get 1 or 2 of these sticks and this guy is pulling out stacks of them on the regular. That just doesn't add up. Is this TL guy active On any other board? It seems like he appeared at Wades one day donated money and set up shop out of nowhere.

TL = TripleLigero?

What about Ryan with all of these Pre- Releases?
