Prayers for my mother

best wishes to your mother. Things will turn out friend. Take care and if you need anything just ask

I will pray for the surgery to go well and a fast recovery. My mom had health issues just last year and the recovery process was very difficult. Good luck and my prayers are with you also as this is very unnerving.

I hope Mom is going to be ok. Prayers sent out for her. Hang in there.

I can’t tell you how much Julie and I appreciate the Prayers, Positive thoughts, and words of encouragement. The phone call from a brother last evening was especially appreciated. Thank you.

Hopefully we’ll know something more today. The medical staff is still evaluating her to determine if she’s healthy enough for the surgery. But, she’s of the mind and heart set that if she doesn’t have the procedure she’ll be in constant intense pain for the rest her life and be a burden to her children or she can go forward with the surgery in spite of the risks. If she survives it, she can be mobile and relatively pain free and if she doesn’t she can “go home”.

Prayers and best wishes out to you and your family preembargo.

Will do Mike. She's such a nice lady. If she remembers me, tell her I said hello and that I'll be thinking of her.

Brothers, thank you all. Your thoughts and prayers have been encouraging. The calls and pm's have been especially comforting.

This has been a tough week. The doctors have decided that Mom's heart is not strong enough to risk the surgery to relieve the pressure on her spinal chord so they will focus on getting her heart stronger then revisit the spinal stenosis later. This pretty much keeps her bedridden for a while which is going to be very difficult on her spirit. Monday afternoon they will be giving her a new pacemaker with a defibrillator. Then she's supposed to have 3 hours of physical therapy and rehab everyday to strengthen her heart. This will be especially tough on her. She's had a bad habit of refusing physical therapy the past.

Unfortunately, that's not everything. This week we got unsettling news about my brother and the Princess, too.

Some of you know that at the end of the first war in Iraq my brother came home with no kidney's. He struggled with it for a few years refusing to accept a live donor transplant from any family member. Eventually he gave in so I gave him one of mine. Typically, the transplants last 8-10 years but so far this one has lasted almost 15. It's been a good run but it's beginning to show signs of failing. He's just been put on the list to receive a new one.

He's also got heart problems., I've actually lost count of how many heart attacks he's had but in all sincerity he makes Cheney look healthy. Right now it seems the upper portion of his heart vibrates instead of beating. Nov 1st he's having a procedure to try to correct it.

Last but not nearly the least, my 6 year old daughter had a routine physical last week and they said her cholesterol is way too high and her alkalyn something or other is high as well (I don't recall the exact name, I don't have the papers in front of me. It's not something I'd ever heard of), this has to do with her liver. This could all all be nothing but she has more tests before that's determined.

Please continue to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers, and know that this brotherhood has really helped us stay the course this week. Thank you.

I'll be praying for you and your mother. Sorry I didn't make it by yesterday. Needed a day to rest.

The surgery which was scheduled for today has been postponed. She’s developed an infection.

Oh, and the implant they were going to use has been recalled.

Maker Halts Sale of Heart Implant Part Following 5 Deaths

WASHINGTON — Medtronic Inc. has suspended distribution of its Sprint Fidelis defibrillation leads after identifying five patient deaths in which a lead fracture may have been a contributing factor.

A defibrillator monitors a patient's heartbeat; if it senses an abnormal heart rhythm, it delivers an electronic shock to reset the heart to a normal beat. A defibrillation system consists of a device implanted near the shoulder with one or more leads connecting the device to the heart.

Medtronic said Monday it had discovered a "small chance of fractures in particular locations" on Sprint Fidelis models 6930, 6931, 6948 and 6949. The company is asking doctors to stop implanting the leads and return all unused leads to Medtronic.

A fractured lead "can cause the defibrillator to deliver unnecessary shocks or not operate at all," said Daniel Schultz, director of the Food and Drug Administration's Center for Devices and Radiological Health.
Good Grief!!!

Geez Mike... I'm so sorry to hear about all of the latest complications. Stay strong brother. Your positive energy will have an impact on the people around you. Your family is still in my prayers...
