Recon isnt only in the Corp. :angry: Who do you think is attached to Army Tank units...Marine Recon, NOT!
I hate Texas period. It never did warm upto me. I did like Ft Irwin, California tho. Ft Knox was pretty cool too. But Ft Hood BLOWS.
Its funny..My dad was Navy as a Torpedo man between 1959 to 1963. My uncle, my dad's brother was also Navy on a frigit around the same time frame. My brother was Navy as a Sea Bee between 1989 till 1992. Me, I went Army. :whistling:

RECON as a unit term is ONLY used by the Marines,
reconnaissance is what a SCOUT does.
19D = SCOUT not RECON.
Remember I told you, I had/have alot of 19D friends even now.

I hate to burst the bubble. Army 19D is also referred to Recon. If you have friends, then have them pull out their actual Certificate of Training from the Department of the Army. I quote from it...
Department of the Army
Certificate of Training
This is to certify that

"The Cavalry Scout is the commander's eyes and ears on the battlefield. When information about the enemy is needed, they call on the Scouts. They are responsible for reconnaissance and you will learn about various weapons to include explosives and mines. Cavalry Scouts engage the enemy with anti-armor weapons and scout vehicles in the field, track and report enemy movement and activities, and will direct the employment of various weapon systems onto the enemy.
Here are a few of the duties of a Cavalry Scout:
* Secure and prepare ammunition on scout vehicles
* Load, clear and fire individual and crew-served weapons
* Perform navigation during combat
* Serve as member of observation and listening posts
* Gather and report information on terrain, weather and enemy disposition and equipment
* Collect data to classify routes, tunnels and bridges
* Employ principles of concealment and camouflage"
When I also got out..They sucked most of the Scout Platoons in the 4th ID into a Bridage Recon unit, not a Brigade Scout unit. Hell, our Brigade commander even called us Recon. Is a full bird colonel and a 3 star general wrong calling us Recon and not Scouts? :thumbs:
And the Marines are called Marine Force Recon, not Recon.
