Police Scanner

Anyone get bored sometimes and listen to the Police/Fire/Emergency scanner for your area as background noise? (Yes, I'm a geek and lame!)
 
Good info and good for local SA.

I do, I drive a fair amount every day and I have a scanner in my truck. It's entertaining. Last night a lady called 911 and told the dispatcher there were 5 small women in her closet!!

Well there went 4 hours... I didn't know you could listen to the police scanner on your iPad/iPhone... I am going to try and forget because that is really addicting

True story about a scanner.  A tow company that I used to work for had trucks equipped with radios.  Our main business was towing illegally parked cars off of private property.  There was a guy that lived in a housing area that always parked in the wrong place.  Problem was he always seemed to know when a truck was in the area and we couldn't figure out how.  He was a real arrogant prick about it too.  Then one night a driver was talking to the guy and heard the scanner go off in the house and heard it tuned to the tow companies channel.  Next night they used cell phones when they got to the area and got the car towed.  He never parked illegally again.

I used to have the app.  I'd listen to my sister on there, which was quite surreal.  She is a Luzerne County, PA 911 dispatcher.
