This has worked really well in the past on other boards so I thought I'd try it here and see what happens.

I'm looking for some photos for the following items. They should be your photos and should depict a cigar or come with a good story about how the photo is cigar related (on your honor, but if there's a common theme such as...you or the same cigar are in your pictures...all the better!). You can bend the item and be as creative as you like. In fact, the more creative, probably the better.

I'm heading out to Seattle next Friday on business and to spend an evening with some friends who'll pick their favourites.

You don't have to submit a photo for each and you don't have to limit it to one but I'm thinking 3 points for a favourite in each category, 2 points for the runner up in each category, and 1 point for a submition to each category, totalled up for an overall winner.

Credit to tomthirtysix and bigwhiteash, from whom some of these items were stolen (Bingo).

Good place to smoke in...?

edit: so grammar and spelling aren't my forte'...

My sense of humor is too far gone for this... everything I have considered submitting was far too raunchy and foul for this. I think my thought process is broken :(

We must think alike. As I was reading down the list my mind was somewhere off in left field. "I can't post that, or that, or that."
I wouldn't call it broken, just on another level.

list follows - items with photos have a hotlink (seemed like it might be a good idea to just link these, rather than display the picture, so it doesn't clog up the works)

Closed! Got some pretty good photos, thanks for contributing! I guess that means I'm off to the airport...again...

Certainly looked upset about that Acid!

Well, I'm finally back and back up to speed. All the photos were a hit and since a lot of us work together, worked for the same company at some point, or work for a company doing similar work, it was a nice diversion from the inevitable talk of work (it's funny how we are all eager to leave work so we can bring it back up again on our off hours). I was asked how the evening went so here it is!

There were 10 of us gathered at a friend's apartment, not simply because he has the largest living room but because he has the largest plasma screen. :D I supplied Crown, Bacardi and Skyy to compliment various mixers others brought, various local micros were declared the responsibility of the two greenest employees and Porto appeared from...somewhere that remained undisclosed to me. :p

While everybody settled down to relax and unwind, I took the opportunity to commandeer the kitchen, turning out appetizers in record time: Fried mac and cheese wedges (which I admit, I actually had half prepared the night before and had bagged and frozen in the break room freezer) and plates of mixed greens topped with glazed pecans, feta and raspberry vinaigrette.

Assorted olives, olive and sun dried tomato tapenades, cheeses and crackers were provided by the head of the household. His girlfriend manifested a spinach dip seemingly out of thin air and various deserts seemed to just "appear"...I love when that happens. I finished up by pulling out a handful of pizza's I'd also whipped together the night before and stored in the break room fridge. There are three fridges...they could spare one for me, yeah? They ranged from plain cheese to chicken, olives, artichokes and alfredo, 6 in all.

Thankfully, the kitchen is seperated from the living room by one of those half wall/bar/breakfast counter/et al type things and somebody was kind enough to pour me drinks so I certainly can't complain. ;)

Shortly after the pizza's started coming out (I got tired of standing in the kitchen so I deligated the baking  ) we popped the photos up on that massive plasma screen and a box of Gurkha G5 Avengers was brought forth by a man most of us went to high school with and whom many of us later bought our first cell phones from...he now manages an AT&T store. Must be nice.

I don't do reviews...I don't think I have the expertise to provide what most people are looking for but I will say that the first thing that struck me (and probably everybody else) was, of course, the flashy box. I appreciate a nice looking box, don't get me wrong, but I also like boxes that make an attempt at a seal. If it comes down to it, I feel like I'd want to be able to put a tube of beads in the box and be able to leave the box out on the table for a little while. Why make it flashy otherwise? From a cursory review, the construction appeared beautful. Flawless seams with a dark, satin surface that did not appear oily at all. It had a decidedly pleasant musky smell which reminded me mostly of a young Mx2. Cut, the draw was extremely loose. Sloppily loose. Bubble tea straw loose. Ex sister in law loose.

I can't say if the smoke tasted like a spicy mocha hot dog with hints of lavender pepper and leather peanuts but I did notice that it had a solid bitterness throughout which definitely stood out more than I expected, particularly in the aftertaste. Moments after release there was a flavour in my mouth which, if I thought about it, made me think, "huh...aftertaste vaguely reminds me of the aftertaste of something else. That's right, that Hershey's Extra Dark Resever, in 85%."

So, it did not taste like chocolate. But the aftertaste reminded me of an aftertaste I once had after eating chocolate...if that makes any sense. ;)

Otherwise, it was pretty decent, and was enjoyed overall by everybody while we perused the assorted pictures.

In particular, everybody appreciated the humor behind the pictures. Notably, the photos such as b.dawson's straight jacket were big winners, as were the humidity related photos. ngetal's continuity was also popular as his photos involved the same man in many of his shots and was associated with that string of photos that circulated the internet many years ago which involved a man who seemed to appeared at the site of so many specific events. We're probably all seen them:

More of his photos are here:

After a deadlock and much discussion and many many drinks, the peanut gallery finally settled on b.dawson as a first place and ngetal as the runner up...Either way, prizes are out, I hope they make for a good evening. I know I had a good time!

good stuff, glad you enjoyed the photos.... yeah, that fat slob in the Tilley hat in most of the photos is me  though I haven't been to New York... :whistling:

thanks again for a fun contest Wolfie - looking forward to trying out the jerky

oh yeah... and the sticks too :D I'll be sure to let you know what I think of the Vision... I was eyeing some of those last time I went to a B&M but the $36 price tag kinda scared me off... :0 (danged Canadian tobacco taxes)
