We just got in the new Partagas 160 Series sticks and let me tell you - these are just absolutely mind blowing cigars :0 These are definitely one of the top three cigars that I have ever had in my life.

They start off with a nice, solid core of cedar then simply explode with flavor about a 1/2 inch into the stick. Slight notes of wood, dry leaves and spice all wrapped inside a beautiful, moderately toothy wrapper.

They are not cheap, about $20 per stick, but are definitely a cigar that you should try at least once. The word we heard from Partagas is that they are making these for another 10 years so most likely they should be available through Xmas.

Slider,

If something isn't Opus or VSG strong, most here won't agree with you, especially for $20 a pop.

CBID morons sure seem to think its a good stick!

THAT'S INSANE!!! Geez!!! :0

I bought a couple of 'em. The ones I got were all nicely gift wrapped in gold paper, and the cigar is contained in a coffin. I'm debating on when I want to open it...

And that little rascal cost me upwards of $30.00... ???

I have one on my wish list and I know I'll put it on my XMAS list but I doubt I'll spend the $25+ being asked at the nearest shop

The $20 price tag is what high end smoke establishments will charge. I have not seen them in retail cigar shops but my guess is they will be in the $12-15 range.

As for Opus and Ashton - I personally love the VSG Illusion and think it is definitely one of the better smokes out there. The Opus X is a good cigar, IMHO not as good as the VSG and definitely tons of marketing hype has made it the mysterious stick that it is today.

Similar to how marketing has made Santa Margerita Pinot Griogio one of the most requested white wines on the market and the stuff is not that good at all. Pinot Grigio should NOT be $25 per bottle.

I have to agree with Sliders assesment of this stick, really enjoyed it. It reminded me to a degree of the LE 5 without the punch, but very good cigar.

LE'05? Kidding, right? Not close...I've smoked a few of the 150 AA and liked them, they have great flavor but oh so mild. The 160 is just marketing crap and not a good cigar, IMNSHO. Maybe in about 10 years will be close to the elegance of the 150.

LE'05? NO...

I'm already starting to see the 160's heavily discounted. Seems to me like this was a stretch just a tad too far. If they're anything like the 150's, I wouldn't consider them worth $20, much less $30 for me.

To clarify on the LE 5 comment, the main element that reminded me was what I call a tea leaf or what I think as a tannic aspect to the flavor, I did enjoy the 160 and have 15 more of the LE 5s now to compare again. Maybe I will call myself nuts when I do.

Where are the 160s discounted because I did enjoy the corona minor?

Pinot,

I wish I could remember. It might have been Famous or TwoGuys. In any case, I deleted the email because it did not contain anything of interest to me.

I've smoked a couple, they're not bad cigars at all, probobly not worth the twenty dollar price tag though.

I don't think you're going to find these at $15 a pop, unless they go on sale. We sell them for twenty-some and most of our prices are pretty close to MSRP. ($13 for a VSG torpedo, $15 for an Opus X Fuente Fuente, ect.)

When you smoke a cigar and then forget that you did,
it's not to your liking. I forgot about the P160 until I
saw this thread again.

I find the 160's, uh..... I cannot put it into words. Words simply cannot describe the experience for me. I mean, life is short enough and cigar time is even shorter. There's nothing worse than using valuable cigar time and using that time needlessly and unenjoyably thinking it may get better. I found a word - YUCK! Yeah, that's it for me - just plain, simple - YUCK. ???
