Partagas 150s

No..But I sure would love too tho. I know OpusXKC got to smoke a party 150. But I dont know if its that one but if it is, he said it was the best smoke he has ever had.

I just smoked one about 4 weeks ago that I got from Smokeyballs and I must say it was awsome. Full bodied with flavored of hazle nut and cream and the begining, slowly moving to a leather and coffee type "spice" or strength.

Not my usual strong X or VSG type smoke, but very very well worth it. Plus the added age probably helped a little. ;)

They are pretty awesome, IMHO

very unique taste

Good question Moki; I've been wondering the same thing as I've got one resting comfortably in my humi. :)

HOLY CRAP... are you kidding?? :0 Those smokes are heaven itself!!! :)

I love the taste of those cigars! Be prepared for the smoke of a lifetime.... I'm not kidding.

They are easily my favorite non ISOM smoke, hands down. And rare as hens teeth to find (without paying an unGodly premium for them!).

Congrats on your gift and enjoy them for all they are worth!
Darren (a self described Partagas 150 junkie!!)

I wouldn't describe them as full bodied - but they are a nice smoke. The few that I've had have been on the milder side - but a very nice mild. They are complex, and it takes some thinking to pick out the flavors - the flavors are very subtle. I'd strongly suggest you not drink anything but water when you smoke it, and don't smoke any other cigars before it - you'll kill your taste buds.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it, unless you're expecting them to be "kick a$$"...

I guess what I meant by "full bodied" is that the cigars are very complex with a thick creamy smooth smoke. Seems like every 1/2 inch is different. The transitions are very subtle and delicious. Smoke them with care.

Here's my guess.. moki will not really care for them, if I know his tastes from reading his reviews, etc.

I haven't had one in at least five years, but didn't like them in the least at that point. Very one-sided cigar that was over-priced then and is over-priced now. JMHO.

They are very mild and definitely not my cup of tea. The price makes them even less attractive.

You're probably right, based on what I've heard. I should probably trade 'em. Well, I'll smoke one and see...

Definitely overpriced, no doubt. Not sure what "one-sided" means - but you are right. I wondered if Moki would like them, given he has a tendency to like the stronger cigars. That's the biggest complaint I've heard about them.

In my case - knowing it was going to be very mild, and warned I may not like them - I poured myself a glass of water - and sat down by myself and smoked it without distraction. It was a nice smoke, (as OpusXKC points out - "a thick creamy smooth smoke") but it is one that really needs focus to pick out the subtleties of it... It is definitely not a "Macanudo" kind of mild - because there are some very nice flavors to it. But it is on the mild side - not even close to medium, IMHO.

It's funny that the Partagas documentation says this is a full bodied smoke but everyone who smokes them says Mild to Medium.

I wonder if the aging on these cigars has mellowed them. If they were made with tobacco already aged, they should have been close to ready to smoke when they were released. I don't know how many years since these were released, but I suppose additional aging could just continue to mellow the flavors.

Some please explain the difference between body and strength. I thought body referred to amount of flavour and strength to nicotine level... now I'm thinking "I'M WAY OFF!"

if anyone is interested in obtaining one of these, thompson cigars seems to have a boatload of 'em. of course, be prepared to receive their rag for the rest of your life! lol! :p

My wife got a box of these for me on our anniversary when they 1st came out, smoked 2 - 3 right away, and then decided to smoke one per year on our anniversary, as I figured I'd never buy them or receive them as a gift again!

IMHO, these are a great, but unique smoke. Could or would not begin to classify them as a strong smoke that overwhelms you with their power and nicotine buzz, but think they are one of the more complex cigars I've ever had the pleasure of smoking. I'm not much at picking out and labeling the various "flavors", ie raspberry, vanilla, hazelnut, orange pekoe, or lemon merangue pie, but I can say this cigar provides volumes of smoke, and tastes great from the start to the end, which, in my case, is right when blisters start forming on my fingers.

Granted they are way overpriced, but in this hobby (obsession) where we all routinely pay our hard earned money to literally watch it go up in smoke, an argument could be made that any cigar is overpriced!!

Would I buy any more, probably not, is my judgement clouded by the fact that they were a gift from a woman who despises my "nasty habit", but thought enough of me to get me a box of them ... definetly!!

My advice would be smoke 'em if you are lucky enough to have one or two, realizing that wrapper is approaching 30 years old, and enjoy it for what it is, and if you're planning on going out and buying a box, at what they're going for now, please mention me in your will!!

I've had one and I thought it was pretty mild. Certainly didn't live up to the hype but not much could really. I thought it was a pretty good smoke over all with a good cloud of smoke and allot of subtle flavors.

The Don Ramon version is the one to get though from the one I've had.

Don't know...send 1 and I'll post a review. :D

Thread was so long and nobody had yet posted the obligatory mooch that I felt compelled to do so. Enjyo 'em. :p

Perfectly put. My experience with them is that they may be more of a mild to medium smoke, smooth vanilla bean and bread taste that mellows with age. I smoked 2 versions: the ones that came out in their own box of 25s, that were close to 29 years old (wrapper age, that is) and it smoked very well. Never went out (so no relight, natch!), burned evenly, copious heavy billows of smoke per mouthful.

I was fortunate to find the Ramon y Ramon / Partagas 150 humidor at Big Indian smoke shop in Buffalo NY. Smoked one of those and it actually tasted more rich and satisfying, with the same mild to medium range of flavors and body.

So I agreee with the above... the cigars from the Don Ramon chest of 100 are the best one to have.

FYI, the Ramon y Ramons from that same chest taste very very similar to the Partagas 150s from that same humidor, except the taste is just slightly off (due to the difference in the wrapper).

In my opinion, because I love this smoke so much, I dropped some serious coin and purchased close to 40 of those Partagas 150s knowing that once their gone, they're gone! To me the price I paid was well worth it for this fact alone (stupendous taste and sensation notwithstanding).

Party 150s will always have a home in my humidors!

FWIW,
Darren
