The x000 series is also box pressed and would explain you not liking it too much. I've had some duds. I still prefer this for the money and flavor. Did the box pressed have a brown label or the nice looking double, numbered label?

They are described as a slight box press. They're not round that's for sure. Plus the brown wrapper is what MacGabhann smoked, so I guess he thought it was box pressed.
 
I prefer a box pressed cigar. And most pedrons are perfectly pressed and delightful
 
A box press CAN make the draw a little too tight on a cigar that is already marginal, but they probably roll it slightly more loosely with the box press in mind.

I don't much care either way. For some reason the box pressed PAMs feel tougher and more durable in my hand.
