SIESTA QUIZ FROM PABLAMOS CIGARS ESPAÑA

www.pablamos.com

A funny thing. When we analyse the web-traffic to our site it appears that the majority of people access it during daylight hours and from Monday to Friday! That is, when we are all supposed to be busting our balls in the office or building site etc. in pursuit of the dollaroonies. Well, we would like to encourage this healthy trend so here marks the inaugural opening of Pablo’s Quiz for People with Far More Important Things to do than Work. Viva la Siesta!

The Prize is one dark Cuban beauty, oiled and ready for pleasure - a Cohiba Piràmide Limited Edition 2001 cigar delivered free to your door. You can also buy her from us but she needs mucha pasta hombres - $25.

The Rules of the Game. There are 10 questions. The winner is the first person to post the correct answers to all of the questions. You only get one post. You are free to make as many posts, cries for help etc. as you want but once you state the answers that is your one and only chance. Go too soon with less than accurate answers and you will blow it. Wait too long and someone is going to get in there before you. Ala Madrid!

Clues. Triple D has got it right “Will work for cigars” - muy bien hombre, because are we going to make you sweat for this cigar. However, we’ve tried to make a test that is fair and open to all-comers - Kojak has a better chance of winning this cigar than Einstein. That’s because all answers (except for Q10) can be found either on our website www.pablamos.com or on one of the websites that we link to. Go follow the links, dig deep and the answers are there for the taking. If it appears cryptic that’s because it is.

Bueno suerte and may the best man win…

The Questions
  • 1. "These rustic little machine-made wonders prove that you don't have to be rich to have rich taste. I first bought a 5-pack while vacationing in Barcelona. It cost about 2 bucks at the time, but in Spain it's a popular working man's cigar. As I smoked them, despite their occasional rough construction and slightly loose fill, I kept thinking "damn this is better than just about anything I can get back in the States!" It is medium to mild and has a distinct earthiness with sweet spices and big mouthfuls of smoke. This is not your father's drugstore cigar, but you can get it for near-drugstore prices." - Submitted by oceans11 on January 16, 2004. What brand of cigars is the reviewer talking about?
  • 2. Who did what with a paper-clip?
  • 3. Why did Bill only chew his cigars instead of smoking them?
  • 4. Shipwrecked! Who me? No, señor, los ingleses. What is the name of the ship?
  • 5. In 1994 a head of state gave an interview with an American journalist in which he stated his preferred brand and size of cigar. Who is the head of state and what is the brand and exact size of cigar that he preferred to smoke?
  • 6. The windmills are turning. They are? Which way are they turning? Clockwise, anti-clockwise or maybe they stopped?
  • 7. “Is ______________________ dead? Depends on your point of view…” Fill in the blank. What is maybe dead or not?
  • 8. In what year was the first official seal put on a box of Cuban cigars?
  • 9. What is the name of the Spanish village where “un alemán” can be found living like Robinson Crusoe? (Clue: “las rocas” is Spanish for rocks).
  • 10. The USA has a good football (ok, soccer) team that beat one of the clear favourites in the last World Cup. Who was it Kasey Keller and his boys beat? England, Spain, Portugal or Germany.

to make your life a bit easier:

2. Winston Churchill... he used it to insert it into his cigar to make the ash really long. supposedly it would befuddle the foreign head of state, and make negotations easier.

3. No smoking, cause good ol wifey said so. So he can only chew em.

8. 1889

those were easy, didn't have to look. the rest i don't know about.
whoever wins, enjoy that cigar!

Too much work for a cigar I have plenty of, but here's what I got. Maybe it'll help someone else. :)

1. Jose Piedra
2. Sir Winston Churchill used to insert a straightened paper-clip into his cigar during important meetings with foreign heads of state. His often unpleasant and hostile guests became fascinated with the ever-lengthening body of unfallen ash and had their minds diverted from the delicate negotiations at hand.
3.
4.
5. Fidel Castro Cohiba Corona Especiale
6.
7. CigarNexus.com
8. 1889
9.
10. Germany

Just to add to Jolly's post, Clarence Darrow did the same thing when his opponent was talking to the jury. They would keep starting at the ash on his cigar and not pay attention to the prosecutor.

I think I got it!

1)Jose Piedra
2)Sir Winston Churchill stuck a straightened paper clip into his cigar before smoking to keep the ash from falling
3)Bill only chewed the cigar because his wife would not let him light them
4)The Serpent
5)Fidel Castro preferred the Cohiba Corona Especiale
6)The windmills are turning clockwise
7)"Is cigarnexus.com dead"
8)1889
9)Camelle
10)Portugal

Muy bien hombre. Monkey K is the winner.

Congratulations, your prize is already on its way and should be somewhere near Madrid by now.

For those that are interested the "hidden" clues could be found on this link from our about us page España

This quiz was obviously way too easy. That only took 8 hours. If we do another one we will have to make it really difficult...

Hard luck to those who tried, better luck next time. ???

WooHoo!

I was on the edge of my seat for a while there, thinking I put to much trust in my rusty Portuguese to understand the Spanish. :p

I don't know about too easy Pablamos, my employer may have something different to say :D :D :D

Thanks Pablamos!
