It looks like quite a few CP members are making the trip to KC for the Fuente event on April 19th. For those of you getting in to town on Friday, I am trying to organize a get together.

So far, the plan is to start with dinner at one of the better BBQ places in KC, Jack Stack in the Freighthouse area (downtown KCMO). Here is their web site: http://www.jackstackkc.com/. I am thinking an early dinner would work best so we can avoid the big Friday night crowd -- 4:00 sounds about right to me.

After dinner we have a few options. IF the smoking ban doesn't pass on 4/8, I think we can go to a local casino and smoke in one of their bars/resturants. But if the ban does pass OR if the casino floors are the only smoking areas left in KC, we can go to another cigar shop in the metro area. It is a bit south of downtown, but the owner will stay open as late as we want (she doesn't have a 20 hour day to look forward to on Saturday!). We can also bring our own booze.

I would like to get a head count of those interested. Please PM me or post here. If you have any suggestions on what we can do after dinner OR if you think dinner is too early, please speak up. I picked Jack Stack because it is good BBQ and Swifty has requested it!

Jim -- I am off work all week, so I should be able to help you get around Thursday evening and Friday. Shoot me a PM.

I wish I could go both times but I will not be on block leave until May!

Have fun guys! :D

I'm interested, sans wheels. I think I get into the airport about an hour or two before that.

I won't be able to make it for dinner.(I don't get off work till 4:30)But let me know where everyone is going to be afterward & approx what time & I'm sure I'll be able to meet up.

Are we going to the casino that has the Author Bryants? That way I can compare two barbeque places. I'm sure I'd be hungry again about 9:00. :whistling:

I'm in for whatever.

I like your style dude

My brother in Lee's Summit has offered to make his place available for an after dinner herf if we need it, but only if it is warm enough to do outside. I'm not sure what the weather is going to be like down there at that time, but he does have a small wood burning chiminea on his patio.

I can change the time to 4:30 if that will help more people be able to make it. I figure it will take a while for all to get there and get our drinks. So it would be closer to 5 by the time we started ordering food.
As for the casino, my favorite is Ameristar which did have Arthur Bryant's the last time I was there.

I'm in. Arthur Bryants is still at the Ameristar. I was there last weekend.

That is so cool. Pig out on barbecue, smoke cigars, and then a few hours later pig out on barbecue again, smoke some more cigars.

Tim you better bring some nose plugs.

Oh and then the next day eat some more barbecue smoke some more cigars.

Heaven.

Keith

We have a good group so far... hope there is more!

My only concern with the casino is that from what I can tell on the KCMO smoking ordinance, the best we could hope for is to be able to smoke after 9 PM in one of the casino bars outside the gaming floor. There isn't any place for a large group to sit and smoke on the actual gaming floor.

The shop I am thinking about in Lees Summit has a good customer who (from what I have heard) makes damn good barbeque. We could either have lunch at Jack Stack (if enough people are in town that early), then head to the cigar shop where this guy would bring us dinner. Or we could still eat at Jack Stack at 4 or 4:30, then have the guy bring us "snacks".

What do you guys think?

I would prefer to have dinner then snacks later. Joe(simmsboard) is going to meet me at the Outlaw right after his flight gets in about 1:00ish. We then need to check in to our hotels downtown (I know I told you I was going to stay at my brothers in Lee's Summit the whole time but decided to get a hotel for Fri. - Sat.). That would be my preference, but I'm just fine with whatever the group would like to do. Perhaps if we are not going to the casino we could get a poker game going at the Cedar Box?

I think the owner of the Cedar Box has poker supplies at the shop. I will check that out. There is also an electronic dart board if that interests anyone. It kinda stinks that we have this new entertainment district in downtown KC -- and no smoking allowed!!

Bump to see if there are any more interested in this. Has everyone sent their info to Brad (Smokyballs) for their name tag? If not, shoot him a PM with your name, screen name, and where you live. He is going to make up name tags for the CP'ers to keep track of one another at Outlaw. I will pick up the tags for everyone coming to this HERF.
