So I was just at lunch and a B & M by my office has about 30 Opus X tins of (3) cigars in the Perfection, Robusto, and Churchill size. They also had untold story Maduros and some Anejo Sharks, but I don't think he had even opened the box of Sharks yet.

The Opus X were $54, $57, $59 for the various sizes.

The store is called Tobacco Plus in Norcross, GA on Peachtree Parkway. Wish I had some cash :(

Correct me if I am wrong, that is with 3 Cigars right? isnt that still a little high? Just wondering that is all. Trying to get a handle on the prices of the many cigars.

David

Oh I am sure its high I have just never seen them before in a Cigar shop. Yes for 3 cigars.

I don't think that is particularly high for the tins but I honestly can't remember what they were going for at "MSRP". I am sure somebody still has a record of what they went for when they came out but I thought it was around $50?

Assuming the $54 is for the Robusto that is $18 a cigar which is about $7 over msrp. A bit on the high side.

I can see getting excited about seeing Opus in a local store but you can definitely find better prices elsewhere.

EDIT:
Here's a reference from Moki's site about original MSRP.

Thanks for this info, I asked because on the Opus x reference Pin on the board, states that only the A size is actually above 18 dollars a stick. But I wasnt sure what it means by coming in "tins"

yeah these tins...

The tins went/go for about $50 and up depending on size. There was never any MSRP established on these AFAIK.

The 'tins' cost more per stick. The's prices are reasonable.

You might find better prices somewhere, but where? Part of this nasty hunt is timing. You just need to be in the right place at the right time. That's proven difficult for many of us here. Based on my experiences, I'd drop $60 on these tins without a second thought. That's better then what I could do here in CA.

THANK YOU Geoff. Nothing against anybody who says these tins are overpriced, but sometimes I scratch my head at most of the folks on here who complain about pricing over MSRP. $54 bucks for a tin?? That's pretty good considering I paid $80 or so for mine. And like Geoff said: Yes, there are better prices for these tins, but hello!! WHERE?? Here's the Opus right now, and yes I'd dump $54 bucks on these tins without a second thought.

It's like a thread I found here on Anejo 77's from 08. Some folks were upset that the B&M wasn't offering them at $11 or so a stick, or near MSRP or whatever. That's fine, yes, go ahead and complain that it's above MSRP etc. etc., you can find better prices somewhere else. Again: WHERE? Sometimes we're spoiled here at CP, in my opinion. I understand the emphasis on paying MSRP or close to for cigars, I'm not knocking it, but when the HTF is THERE and REASONABLE, why complain?? I just don't get it.

/end rant.

I dunno about the rest of you folks, but I complain just to make those California smokers angry(:sign:).

No really though, it's great for you to share your find, I try to get the word out when my local has HTF stuff in, it just generally doesn't get past one or two people before everything is bought out.

Call Tampa Sweethearts. The limit is 2 each of the Anejo line, 4 each of the Hemmingway line, and not sure what the limit is on Opus. They charge retail prices. All sizes of Anejo were in stock as of last Friday.

well said.

Here is a link to a reputable cigar chain that is a Fuente Retaler. Their prices ARE TRUE MSRP according to Fuente/JC Newman. This will give you an idea of the price gouging going on. I have seen as much as 2.5 times retail at some stores. In some stores defense, if they are not an Opus retailer, they may buy retail and mark it up from there so that they can have them available to their customers as a convenience. They perform a service.

Opus X cigars MSRP & info -- the OVTC prices above must include the 10% tobacco tax or such (though they are still slightly off, but quite reasonable, all things considered).

Aye, but keep in mind, just because it's listed does not mean it's in stock at OVTC. Better to call and find out rather than place an order only to find out they don't have it.

Good call Andrew. You are probably right about the OTP tax. Thanks.
