Opus X Destino Siglo Question

Hi Everyone,

A friend of mine purchased a sampler pack of cigars for me from a store called Tampa Sweethearts. Based on my research, it seems like they are a legit retailer. 5 of the 6 cigars have a secondary band that says Destino Siglo 1912-2012 underneath the Opus X band and a yellow ribbon on the foot of the cigar. The cigar names are below. I was hoping someone might be able to describe the difference between these cigars and the standard Opus X line. I am aware of the Destino Al Siglo cigars with the blue wrapper, but these look different and appear to have the same label as a standard Opus X. Also, if you've ever smoked them, are they good? Thanks for your help!

1) Fuente Fuente OpusX Double Corona Natural (7 5/8" x 49Ga)
(1) Fuente Fuente OpusX Destino Siglo Reserva D'Chateau Natural (7" x 48Ga) - "2023 Cigar of the Year"
(1) Fuente Fuente OpusX Destino Siglo PerfecXion X Natural (6 1/4" x 49Ga)
(1) Fuente Fuente OpusX Destino Siglo Fuente Fuente Natural (5 5/8" x 46Ga)
(1) Fuente Fuente OpusX Destino Siglo Robusto Natural (5 1/4" x 50Ga)
(1) Fuente Fuente OpusX Destino Siglo PerfecXion #4 Natural (5 1/8" 43Ga)

Tampa Sweethearts is ran by the Fuente family, the same family that makes the Opus cigars you're questioning.

Thanks to both of you for the responses. I am definitely not questioning the authenticity of the items, just interested in what separates these cigars from the standard Opus line of my own nerdy interests. I'll have to reach out to them to see what info I can get!

Firstly, maybe head over to the new member forum and make an introduction post: https://www.cigarpass.com/community/forums/new-member-introductions.13/

Secondly, if you would browse around the Fuente official site you would find this: https://arturofuente.com/our-cigars/opusx/oro-oscuro/

Thirdly, since Fuente's site doesn't actually give a lot of info, you'll have to do your own googling from there to research the cigar. I've only had the regular Opus so can't tell you how different those would be.

Now that you've joined up, hopefully you'll stick around and participate!

Thanks. I originally thought Oro Oscuro as well, but the descriptions of the cigars do not match the Oro Oscuro line. For example, the Reserve D'Chateau offered in the sampler is listed on the website as being an example of the 2023 cigar of the year. The Oro Oscuro did not win cigar of the year, it was the standard Opus X. The wrappers on the cigars I purchased also do not appear nearly as dark as the Oro Oscuro wrappers, they more closely resemble the wrapper on a standard Opus X cigar. I did a pretty exhaustive Google search before posting here and got a ton of different results. Some sources seemed to suggest the gold ribbon could signify a habano seed wrapper vs corojo, other sources suggested that it could be rosado version of oro oscuro, but there didn't really seem to be any consensus. It might just be a mystery but I'll reach out to the seller and see if I can get any more details.

Did you catch the part about posting a introduction in the New Members introduction forum?

Can you link to the sampler you received? I can't seem to find anything that matches the cigars you're describing.

There can be quite a lot of variation in wrapper color. Just looking at two different Oro Oscuro pics from Tampa Sweethearts, for example:

Or within the same box from Atlantic:

Found this as well, but no real info given:

After taking a look at the photos you sent, I found a review Destino al Siglo Shark release from a few years ago that has very similar branding to the sampler cigars. The article suggests that these are a Rosado version of the Oro Oscuro -- similar to the photo. It seems I may never find a definite answer but at least I'll have a little insight as I light them up. Should be fun to try. I left the article below in case of interest.

Unfortunately, the site doesn't seem to have the listing live anymore and I haven't gotten any response to my question about the cigars. It appears that the sticks are in the mail so I will post some pictures when they arrive.

Thanks!

Well hopefully you get some kind of reply. I haven't been able to find anything. In fact I wasn't able to find much at all about different wrappers for the Oro Oscuro other than that cigars direct listing with the two boxes together.
