Hey guys I was looking for this thread to revive and I realized it got lost in the l40.net debacle. So I am restarting it.

The report of psykteks's local store getting them in, plus talking to a guy from my local store, made me want to bump it.

Basically this is where we post tips about who has them in when and coordinate plans on how to get our grubby little hands on these hard-to-get beauts.

The basics:

Official retailers get them in about 3x per year. Right about now is time for a shipment.

In high volume markets you need to be on a waiting list or good customer of the store to even be told they are in. Stocks typically sell out in days if not hours.

Retailers are required to sell at MSRP, though in some states taxes maek this higher. Gouging and selling by any means other than walk-in busines is a no-no. Accounts fo get pulled for this is its proven.

The consensus is in the DC area at least late Nov/early Dec is the time. As of Wed. they definitely weren't in yet.

OK so post up with your questions/suggestions/answers/comments/local status!

I bought two Fuente Fuentes today and my shop is supposed to be getting more next week.

I was at the local store on Tuesday and they had a box in the humi.

$11.95 each and there were about 10 left.

Hey I have a question

The guy from my local shop says the early Opus around 98 and 99 were way better than the current ones. He says there is too much demand and Fuente is ruching the production and the new stuff just isn't as good.

I'm kinda surprised since they are still pretty hard to get....I don't think Fuente is making much concessions to demand but I could be wrong.

Anyone know the scoop?

One of the shops in town had about five different sizes available.

NO LIMIT!!!!!!!!!

I bought five power ranger xXx's $9.65 each

and that first one smoked very nice.

If I could find them at that price I would by a box :)

If anyone can get me 3 Opus X PerfecXion I would glad pay them and trade a couple from the humi if they so desired.

I have PAM Torpedoes?????

I haven't had the pleasure yet of having one of these most cherished of stoggies. If anyone can tell me where or would like to trade or sell . . . I would be most interested!!

I must be one of the minority, I really do not like the Opus, yeah they are good, but not that good. I have found other cigars that are better at half the price.

I still haven't smoked one yet but If they are better then VSG's I will be surprised.

Yeah I know but the only other shop that had Opus had a limit of two and only the one size. Probably what will happen with everybody if they get any Anejos at all wich is what I'm sort of holding out for.

Okay not to be a band wagon rider but... I have not tried an Opus X. I have even been able to find a local shop with them. So If any one could part with one or two I would trade or pay. So that I too could form an opinon, and stop ridding on hype alone.

By the way that VSG Paragod spoke of is hard to find around this way aswell.

The local shops by me (NYC, Long Island) have not received their shipment yet but should be shortly

I tried my first one about a month ago and I pretty much agree with PG here. They're not bad but I don't think they're worth the money that the shops are asking (in my cast $12.00 for the Fuente Fuente). I'd rather spend less on a DC or a Churchill havana.

I am going to check to see if my store has their shipment in. They just had the charity smoke the other night which I could not go to.

I would be suprised if the Opus are way better then the VSG... but i think they should be as good as the VSG. They would play in the same series....

But i have not tryed any yet.... ;)

Hehehe

if you ask me the Opus X is a completly different cigar than the VSG and is a great cigar in it's ownright. I was chilin with my buddy today and we had an VSG tre Mistique and an Opus X #5 (along w/a couple other in between).
I think I liked the VSG a bit more, He picked the Opus (his first one). A 50/50 split. we tend to have wildley different views on cigars and how they taste I totaly agreed with him that the Opus was a great cigar though and came to the conclusion that I would always like a few opus X's around for a change of pace from the everyday "easy to get" smoke. I tend to feel like I am "pampering" myself by smoking cigars like those and I think it makes the smoke all that more sweet. I think VSG's are a bit easier to get so I don't think it's all that big of deal when I smoke one of those, but still they are my fav. and NOTHING is as good as your fav smoke!

I haven't tried a VSG yet. SO far Opus is my favorite smoke but I must admit my experience is limited.
