"Operation: Just Cause" Pass

Thanks for letting me join!
But I have to bow out of this pass. No sense in causing a ruckus.

Enjoy...

Well, ladies and gentlemen, Cohibasurfer, has decided to bow out of the pass, and I am actually a little relieved that he has, becuase all I have heard from his is complaints from the Puts/Takes, and I am really tired of it.

Please omit him from the pass, and I will be contacting the person before/after him to make sure they are aware of it.

Cohibasurfer, please get a life and try to enjoy it. You obviously have way too much stress in your current life, and try to put that on everyone else on this board.

ALostTexan

Again, I do thank you for allowing me in your pass. I regretably bowed out in pure respect of you... and am sorry if there is ill feelings now. I sincerely hope you enjoy and have a very successful pass.

As for stress in my life... yeah .. I do have some. Wanting to spread it to others... never.

Edited to say-

Well TEX the more I thought about your post. The more of the Gentleman in me decided to take off his jacket.

Not that it matters much to you the Host. As you seem to have your own agenda. But for myself and the rest of the board that I have so diligently tried to help and honor. I feel compelled to stand up and piss back as it may.

As I PM'd you already. I felt that participating in a pass that allows someone to put in cigars worth $8.50 (LA AURORA 100 ANOS Robusto) for a cigar that goes for twice that ( Autero Fuente Anejo's) is just not doing the board justice. Maybe tutoring newbies or keeping the cherry picking vultures away from CP passes is no concern of yours ( and Other1, I definately am not placing you in this classification or brother Sober either, I don't believe it was intentional) but it is mine. If you would have stated that this pass was not to have the standard rules, then it wouldn't have made such an impact.

Now when some unsuspecting person sets up his first pass and let's people openly sign up, and soeone see's an Anejo, BTL, Opus A ect. ect.. and decides that they'll do the same... and maybe not on purpose, but because they watched and read this pass. Then both sides can thank you. The guy that get's his butt reamed and/ or the host and other passers that let it slide.

And for what it's worth TEX ... I definately don't enjoy making these type of posts.

Addy in profile Jason... :D

Let it ride CS, it wasn't that big a blunder if at all.

Yo Tex, try to be nicer to your passers dude. Why would you want to escalate this by insulting somebody?

BTW, Cohiba, if you are so worried abour fairness why didn't you point out that I replaced a $4 RyJ Coronitas en Cedro with a $14 Fundadore? Was that unfair? Should I throw a Bolivar Petit Corana in there instead?

An Anejo 50 has an MSRP of $7.25.
I don't know MSRP on the LA 100 Anos but they cost me $12 (box price BTW).
I just got a box of Añejo No.50s from 2002 for $295 (box of 24), or $12.30 a stick. Not MSRP, but consider that the tobacco tax and sales tax is built into that price. Thing is, this only happens once in a blue moon.

The ONLY place I can find to buy a box of these online wants $675 (!!) for the box -- clearly a gouger price, but other than the auction sites, there's nowhere online you can purchase them. Your only real possibility is being friendly enough with a retailer that you can buy a box from him when they come in around xMas time or father's day. Most retailers limit the number of sticks you can have, but others do sell entire boxes at MSRP. It's a crap shoot.

The real issue here is that Añejos are limited in release, and in extremely high demand. La Aurora 100 Anos are also limited in release (12,000 boxes being made ever), but at least from what I've seen, the demand isn't nearly the same... so they are easier to get.

Subjective, but I smoked one of them a while ago -- I thought it was pretty good, but not great. My friend Aizuddin did a review of it too.

Anyway, I've seen boxes of them ranging from $200-$300 -- I suspect that they will be easier to get than Añejos, and on that score, I'd say the put/take isn't exactly right, but it isn't that far off. Were it me (which it isn't), I wouldn't have any problem with your puts/takes because the Brazillia Anaconda that you put is a limited release that is a bit more expensive (and rarerer) than the regular production CAO Italia Piazza, and the RyJ Corinitas (it isn't a Cedros) you took is less expensive (by a factor of 4 or so) than the Trinidad Fundadores you put.

However, that's my view of the puts/takes as a whole. Some people prefer to do it on a stick for stick basis.

I've removed my original response. It's really not worth any drama to me. I hope nobody else thought my P/T were unfair. To remove any possible doubts I'm puting an extra Anejo 55.

Cohibasurfer, I posted and asked if anyone had a problem. I wish you had just PMed me instead of making this a public tribunal.

First let me respond to Other1:

I hope you read my post correctly. I am not accusing you of anything underhanded. I did see that your Fundadore put was way above and beyond the take. There has never .. ever.. been a problem with putting a cigar in that was over the top of a take. And seeing your P&T's I was not disturbed that you were trying to get something for nothing... It was very clear your an upstanding BoTL. This makes no difference to the moles that sneak in and try to cherry pick on our board. The trade of the Anejo would however fuel a fire down the road for an unsuspecting group of passers when directed to this pass to say " I thought it was fair because.... Do you see where I'm coming from? I also felt that when my friend George was questioned behind the scenes, and made a change, that just over looking yours was totaly unfair to him.

I had sent a PM to the Host stating I would withdraw from the pass quietly if this was his position to make what I many , many times, had stood up for a paradox. He never replied. I thought he just wanted to let the corrections take place and move forward. When you did yours and his response was the same. I knew then I should just bow out. I then received this sour PM of how he wished he would have never aloud me in his pass to begin with as everyone on the board feels as I bitch and complain. Here again I was acceptable to leave quietly as this was a PM. But when he so absurdedly posted his condesending remarks for public viewing, I was left with only a recourse of posting my position.

To that matter, I never placed you in a catagory of mistrust or George either. As for your smartelic comment on sending me some Anejo's, that was un-necessary to say the least. I think you have lost site of my motive and took the post as a personal attack. It was not.

To the Host TEX:
After stewing a bit on your public flogging, I dicided to post my problem. For some strange reason I was compelled at first to treat you and your pass with some kind of respect. But after seeing your intention to publicly humiliate me, I realized that you had none for me. Which is again yor call.

And in noway do I think that those fine gentlemen in anyway meant to slight the pass. And I would make a trade like that with both of them. But, because of the board growing the way it is, and the common sense rules some of us are trying to get across to keep problems down. A pass that has "Stadard Rules" should not have lopsided swaps.

I know you must be a person with a kind and big heart. And you would probably give someone the shirt off your back. I certainly am not scrutinizing you for that quality. But to take the initative to start a Open pass with stadard rules and let common mistakes regardless of the intentions of the players happen. Then publicly slam me for trying to help and educate the people like I was educated is a mockery. And to try and lable me as some stressed out anarchist with no life was treason amongst gentlemen IMO.

And Neal ( whom I respect ) I will let it go .... Now! ;)

Michael

Your right, I did take your response as a personal attack. That's why I removed it. I guess you already read it or got an email notification. Like I said, I'm not interested in any drama. No harm done. I've changed me P/Ts. I still wish you would have just contacted me directly if you had a problem. To post something to the effect of 'Im just trying to prevent newbie mistakes and cherry pickers' and then use me as an example and say 'no offense meant' is kind of hard to take. I'm of the frame of mind that if anyone ever feels the need to say 'no offense meant' they know damn well they were being offensive.

Anyway, enough, or should I say way too much, said on this topic. Lets move on. I'm out the door to meet Marito.

I am a stressed out anarchist with no life and I resent and am insulted by being compared to Michael. He is clearly not nearly as stressed as I am.

I am also offensive and when I am offensive I MEAN it... except when I don't then I'm not and you shouldn't think I am even if I didn't.

Some people have a mighty high opinion of themselves and some people do not. I prefer not to interact with people possessing either of these forms of self delusion.

Okay...just got back from picking up the pass from other1...and got to share a nice Cohiba in the process. (Tex, thanks for setting it up this way, was nice to meet someone in person—nice meeting you other1.)

So, with some trepidation based on the previous posts, here are my proposed P/Ts:

Takes

#5 A Fuente Anejo #77
#30 Vegas Robaina Famosos (ISOM)
#33 LA AURORA 100 ANOS Robusto

Puts

#38 Padron Millenium
#39 Davidoff Millenium Lancero
#40 Cohiba Siglo VI
#41 Ashton VSG Enchantment

Please let me know your thoughts. Checked the boxes and we are at 68 degrees and 70%.

Ooops...sorry. That would be a Davidoff Millenium Lonsdale. All else in previous post is correct.

Great meeting you Marito! Thanks for the cigar, it was

I think your P+T are great, but then what do I know? :0 :sign:

Marito,

I think that the P/T's look great, also, but then again, what does anyone know?

I am not going to comment anymore on Cohibasurfer. He chose to drop out of the pass, and I am quite relieved that he has, and I think everyone will move on quite well.

Again, thanks for participating in the pass, and maybe I can make it over to the city for a weekend sometime and meet up with Other1 and yourself.

So far, so good! :)

When I got home Saturday morning at 2 am the PO had tried to deliver the box. It needs to be signed for, so.......... I will leave the signed card Monday and hopefully they will leave the box, if not - whoever the return address is to might be getting the box? Sorry, but I leave for work before the PO opens and arrive home after it's closed. My next day off is Thursday and I don't expect to the PO to hold it that long.

I hate that feeling, Captain B. And I know that feeling, always missing the post man.

I am sure it will work out. Thanks for the update, though.
