Okay...so I'm new...

Well, I thought I had a bit of knowledge about cigars and the life, but the more I read the more I understand how unrefined my pallate is. My only question is just that I am looking for good smokes to really help me dive in to something that I like and that I will enjoy having as staples in my humidor. Some of my current favortites are Ashton's Aged Maduro in a Torpedo, Cuestra Rey's Centro Fino #55, and Rocky Patel's Vintage 1990 in a Toro just to name a few. Please, shoot me some recommendations. Thanks to all that reply.

Disclaimer: Any and all recommendations may be tried and therefore it is considered by the author that the more the better. ;)
 
Welcome to Cigar Pass!

I'd suggest you go to the Review Forum and just start reading. Page after page, there is an amazing wealth of information and a lot of great ideas for smokes. If something you read looks interesting, give it a shot. There's no right or wrong answer, no good or bad, there is only what you like, what you don't and what you haven't tried yet :) Half the fun is discovering a new cigar that knocks your socks off.

Instead of a bunch of guys like me that also have unrefined pallets telling you what they like, you should jump in the Newbie Sampler thread in the marketplace and have someone that knows about cigars match your likes with some sticks you may not have tried.

Welcome to Cigar Pass. I'll leave you with the same advice I got from a CP veteran when I was getting started here--things have a strange way of showing up to people with addresses in their profile :whistling:

Solid advice--start at the top and work your way down.

In all seriousness, I bought a DL chisel ~4 months ago and, in that time, I haven't been able to muster the balls to smoke it.
 
Padron x000 series, Monte Cristo Whites and Platinums(NC), JFR Maduro/Corojo, Man O'War, Oliva Series G, V or O.

Those are only a few I have come across. And I second the address in profile thing..
 
Ashton VSG is a great smoke with just enough strength to not scare you. The Padron classics, like husker said, are great smokes . . . I really like the 2000's.
 
Okay everyone, I have never tried putting my address in my profile on any site thus far, but I'm willing to give it a shot. You all seem like a pretty close knit community so I am going to trust the recommendations of a few and post my address in my profile. I will hopefully soon see how this works out. That's exactly what I don't want to happen!! But I'll take it in stride and if it shows up in my mail box then your waste of money will create nice warmth in my fireplace. And, just remember how the old saying goes, payback is hell and I return favors in double or triple the fashion. :cool:
 
Okay guys, I have to ask, I have some experience with cigars and am not afraid to try almost any...what's the deal with the LFD Chisel?? I have actually been considering ordering the LFD 5-pk sampler ligero blend perfectos...is this not a good place to start?? I just can't help that every time I turn the page that has the picture of that sampler on it in CA magazine my senses light on fire. Fill me in...I'm interested...

LFD Makes a hell of a cigar. If you're looking for variety within the LFD line, then the sampler will offer you just that. The chisel tends to be a very stout smoke. You should punch the chisel part on the top instead of cutting the cigar (this is how it's meant to be smoked) and when you draw on it, it will concentrate the smoke onto your palate.

Personally, I really enjoy the Cabinet Oscuros (and they are easy on the wallet), and the Cameroon Lanceros. :thumbs:
 
Thanks for the info... first of all I would have never known to punch the top of the cigar and secondly I like a full-bodied smoke once in a while. If it's over the top then I guess I will soon know after lighting it if I like it or not.
