The Preacher
I know Christmas is behind us, but if you have not heard this then you need to check it out!
Wow, I had no idea there were so many kids on here....
Nostalgia? How about something ... older... ?
I tend to think in terms of albums...
Allman Brothers - Eat a Peach (saw them twice around then, once with and once after Duane, probably my favorite band of all time)
Pink Floyd - Ummaguma (saw them in 1973 on the DSOTM tour)
Grateful Dead - Europe '72 (saw them at the end of that tour, performed essentially the entire set) (and many other times)
Derek and the Dominos - Layla (saw the same band basically at an Allm Bros concert, with Clapton etc, 1973)
Traffic - Low Sparks of High Heeled Boys (never saw them live, damnit)
The Doors - Morrison Hotel (same, damnit)
The Who - Who's Next (saw Townsend with Clapton and others but never The Who, damnit)
and forward in time a bit
Cowboy Junkies - Trinity Session
Amy Whinehouse - Back to Black
and back a little further
Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Saw Townsend with Clapton, as well, in Memphis back in... 2010, maybe? He absolutely stole the show from EC. Clapton seemed like he didn't even want to be there, and played very, very few of his hits. I know that after so many decades he needs to change it up for himself, but for the fan seeing him for the first time, those are the ones you hope to hear, ya know?
The Who toured through Little Rock when I lived in Jacksonville, AR. I didn't get tickets for it because it was right when the pedo/child porn charges were out there, and it was rumored the whole tour was going to cancel. I'm bummed I didn't go now.
John you’re in my wheelhouse with the Tame Impala, Band of Horses, Vance Joy, etc![]()

I was negative 6...Youngsters....
I saw Clapton in Charlotte NC in a small venue in 1974. As the band was playing, I said to my friend, "Isn't that Pete Townsend?" Sure enough it was. Then I noticed, on piano, Leon Russell. Carl Radle on bass. Delaney & Bonnie on backup. There were others, I can't remember. They appeared to be having a blast and it was a great show. I think I still have the ticket stub somewhere. That was the way a lot of it happened back then, you know, they were all friends and it was about the music. And the culture. Neither of which lasted the decade.
Tame Impala is coming our way in October. The old me was ready to purchase some good seats for my daughter and I. The “newer” me realizes that I might be too tempted to ingest something I shouldn’t (like I’m still 25), so I decided to pass on that concert. Bet it’s amazing.John your in my wheelhouse with the Tame Impala, Band of Horses, Vance Joy, etc![]()
Have you checked out their other stuff? They are a hell of a group. I’m surprised they aren’t more popularI know Christmas is behind us, but if you have not heard this then you need to check it out!

John @jfields this is a playlist I made for our recent Miami trip, I think you and your daughter will enjoy... or anyone else that wants to check out some new alternative/indie-pop... FYI, I always add a couple songs to all my playlist from an artist that is pretty special to me, BARXX, but I might be a little biased...Tame Impala is coming our way in October. Listening to Steely Dan "Aja" on the R2R in the office, while smoking an Oliva Melanio. Nothing like analog audio.
