Your CP BOTL's will be herfing Wild West style on the Historic 49er Trail. There will hopefully not be any gun slingin', but should be plenty of whiskey & cigars flowing! We've been talking about it for half a year now and I've been getting emails asking about the next one. Last weekend, Alice and I took a little tour to scope out an area to hold our Second Annual Norcal HERF and Wine Tour and we think we've found the perfect location. Great food! fantastic wines! cigar friendly and a little something for everyone!

This year we're headed to the Sierra Foothills, making Sutter Creek our homebase. We've been going to the Sutter Creek area for a number of years now, it's a very romantic Gold Country getaway for those bringing their significant others. The American Exchange Hotel is offering our group some very nice specials and will work closely with our group for our dinner as well.

As wines go, there are some spectacular Rhone varietals, Zinfandels and probably the best Sangiovese producer in the State. Everyone has offered to host our large group with no problems! I can't wait to share with you some of my favorite producers in this area.

Date: Friday, April 17 to Sunday April 19, 2009
Where? The American Exchange Hotel, http://www.americanexchangehotel.com/home.php
53 Main Street Sutter Creek, CA 95685 (800) 892-2276

This historic and newly refurbished hotel has only 25 rooms total -
10 rooms have a private bathroom (second floor), $95 to $105 per night
15 rooms share 4 bathrooms (third floor), $75-$100 per night

We have 10 "second floor" rooms on hold until 3/31/09. Tell them your with Cigar Pass when you make your reservation to get one of the reserved rooms.

Friday, April 17 Itinerary:
10:00 a.m. - Meet at Tower Cigars in Sacramento, Tower Pipes & Cigar is located at 2518 Land Park Drive, Sacramento, CA 95818, Tel: (916) 443-8466.

1:30 p.m. - Meet at Van der Vivjer Winery in Fair Play, Van der Vivjer Winery is located at 7451 Fair Play Rd., Fair Play, CA 95684. The winery is a little dificult to get to so we'll be rejoining at the Pokerville Market in Plymouth on Highway 49 to get lunch to take with us. We'll be meeting at the market at between 12:00 and 12:30. I'll PM everyone my cell number so we can stay in communication.

5:00 p.m. - Dinner at Taste Restaurant in Plymouth CA, Taste is located at 9402 Main Street, Plymouth, California 95669. We'll be ordering from the menu at Taste so no need to preorder. After dinner we'll head on over to the Imperial Hotel in Sutter Creek where we can check in and perhaps do a little pre-HERF'ing.

Saturday, April 18 Itinerary:
10:30 a.m. - Leave the American Exchange Hotel for our first winery visit at Story Winery. We will be carpooling in at least 2 cars, I have a minivan that holds 6 very comfortably and Dan is getting a large vehicle as well. Traveling is very easy as all of the wineries are very close to each other. The order of our visits will be Story Winery, Vino Nocetto, Terra Rouge, Karly, and Montevino or Bray Winery. Vino Nocetto will be charging $5 a person which includes lunch, music, Riedel wine glass, all the tasting you can handle and a $5 coupon off any purchase ..... how's that for a deal?! There are no other tasting fees for the day.

5:30 p.m. - Dinner at Susan's Place in Sutter Creek. We'll play it by ear as to what time everyone wants to get back to the Hotel before Dinner. The restaurant is across the street from the Hotel so there is no travel time, we'll just meet there at 5:30 p.m., TWP Productions will be supplying the wine for the Dinner :D .

Immediately Following Dinner - After dinner we'll meet back at the Hotel Balcony for the HERF.

Yes! Yes!

My wife and I had a blast last year. This is a very nice trip folks; David and Alice are the consummate hosts and the wine ain't bad either!

I look forward to the details, but you can pencil Lanell and I in now.

Best,

Rob

Of course I am interested, however Lesley may not be doing much tasting for the next nine months....... :whistling:

Hell Yea! I'm in. ... Maybe it can be just a tad later so I don't get snowed on my way down.

Ms. B.B.S. (Lynn) and I are 96.4% on this one. Of course it's a little hard to plan that far in advance but short of a major disaster.....count us in...!!

You dirty dog!

This sounds like something that would be fun to attend. Count me in as an interested party.

This is very tempting. Any contacts at the French Laundry, David?

Quite possible, but we found a FANTASTIC restaurant in Plymouth, which is just down the road from Sutter Creek, Restaurant Taste. We had a beautiful dinner there last weekend that would give any SF restaurant a run for their money, we're thinking of doing our Friday night dinner there this year.

I was trying to be subtle.....but yes it is true. I really would like to find a way out there in April, I guess it all depends upon the status and the pocket book.....

Damn .. I have been out of pocket too long. " AKA ddepaola " ... Congratulations Buddy! .. Do whatever you can to make it! I know we would all like to toast and smoke a nice cigar in your honor.

- Cheers!

well well well... April huh?

I'll put the Wifely Unit© and I down as a probable at this point. I know she'd really REALLY like to go, after missing last year's in favor of the later spring snow we had ;) But it's far too early to see if she'll be up for the travel, able to get time off, yada yada. Me on the other hand... I can easily get the time off and zip down. Now, if I'm allowed to go WITHOUT her... a whole 'nother story!

Considering this is just about in my backyard I will definately be there.

Please post all the details soon (ie. dates, times etc) so I can write this in the calendar soon.

- Jason

Man this sounds awesome. I was wanting to do it last year, but couldn't swing it. We have Jazz Fest in New Orleans at the beginning of May, so it might be tough. I will start scheming to see if we can make it work.

Top ... to keep up the interest and to bring to the attention of those who may have missed the original posting.
