Hi ya'll, a friend of mine came back from Egypt recently with a box of Romeo y Julieta Habanos made in Habana, Cuba. Box of 10 Milles Fleurs is still sealed and dated ABR 05. I think it was a gift to them and I know they don't smoke cigars. I've heard about restrictions on Cuban cigars in the US but I don't know al the details. Are there any options for selling these, or should they just give them away as a gift? Also, what are they worth? Thanks, NooB

You cannot sell them in the states, legally!!

I work for the Turn-In-Your-Cubans-To-Me Department. He can mail them to me!! :whistling:

Cubans are illegal for US Citizens to buy, sell, own or smoke BTW. Better to introduce yourself, read thru the site and gain what info you can by searching...

I think you should post an introduction first in the Introduction forum before asking these types of questions.

And SJM nailed it on the head, especially if you live in the U.S. (including territories such as Puerto Rico), or you are a U.S. citizen.

Yo can't even give them away, you should be a good citizen and mail them to your local ATF office! ;)

Introduce myself? OK--I'm a guy in Texas who's friends came back with a present of cigars and they don't smoke. I'm the internet forum guy so I get to go online and figure out what the deal is. I'd still like to know what these are worth. Are they still appealing even with an April 05 date?

They aren't appealing in the US, they are illegal! What they are worth? Last time I remember, and I could be wrong, they are worth up to $500.00US a stick if you or any other US citizen are caught with them.

Of course YMMV

That is one of the older "born on" dates I have seen in awhile. They are skunked by now for sure.

So please, tell us about your trip to Egypt! I hear that's a beautiful place to visit.

As for your friend, I'm sure you (I mean he) understands now that trying to sell his stash here probably isn't going to work out to well for you (there I go again, I mean him). :whistling:

http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/travel/clearing...uban_cigars.xml will give you a bit of info on the ban from the fine folks over at US Customs.

A quick search online found pricing from $14.40 per stick to $4.40 if bought by the box of 25. With unknown storage conditions of your find, I'd say their value is minimal.

I think you should burn a piece of the evidence once and, if the destruction acceptable, dispose of them for your friend as quickly as possible.

If you are really interested in finding out about the cigars I would recommend calling a Cuban dealer in Canada or doing a search on the net for the information. There is a protocol rules here and, I being a newbie who should not be giving advice, it seems you have broken a couple, particularly about Cubans. I think you can find the information with minimum ruffling of feathers if you check out legitimate Cuban dealers out of the States. Again, this is just my humble advice. Good luck.

Well said Sax, well said.

Oh except the part about your concern about being too new here to give advice because when the advice is as good as this, there's no need for the qualifier. ;)

If you look just just above your original post you will see the caption Cigar Discussion. Click on that and read the "Anouncement. Discussion of sources" post. I missed that myself on my newbie introduction and came in asking alot of the wrong things. No one is trying to get s****y with you asking you to tell more about yourself. They just want to know who you are and know a little something about you.

I appreciate all the advice guys. I was PM-ing with someone and they said that these are machine-made and only come in boxes of 25. My friend's box clearly states that these are handmade, both in English and in Spanish, and it is a box of 10. Since it's clear now that they can't sell them or even give them away (I'll tell them to bury them 6-feet under, lol), I'm still curious to discuss them and solve some of these questions. I will assume that discussing the nature of cuban cigars is lawful.

I don't get it....There are multiple posts here that clearly states cuban cigars are illegally. There is no need to discuss. There are thousands upon thousands of websites and books that will answer many of the questions this person has about those "forbidden" sticks. If you don't know what you are smokin then dont take them. I have been here at CP for approximately a year and I have been smoking for 17 years and I still learn from FOGS, old f..ks or whatever acronym you want to use but if the question I have is volatile to other people, I damn sure wont ask it in a public forum....(stepping from the podium now...lol)
