No more Twinkies - Hostess finally went under...

Now what will they sell at the fair? No more fried Twinkies I guess.

Politics aside.... anyone interested on a box split on some Twinks ? I have a reliable source...

I love deep fried twinkies. We make them every year on the beach vacation. I guess we have to come up with a new idea now.

There is a company in Canada with the rights to sell these there, so worse case you'll just have to get a "source"

It's not the union.

Apparently it is. Yes, I did my research. Plenty of blame to go around. Unions rather lose job than take a pay cut. It would not be so bad if only the union lost their jobs, but that is not how unions work. They take everyone with them down the toilet because they don't get their way. What a shame.

So the executives huge pay is not at all responsible? Is that why the judge ordered them to liquidate the company? But yeah, lets blame the unions. Where did you get your research? FOX does not count as research. Just sayin'!

Their fault for saying "fuck you" to taking a SECOND pay cut and SECOND benefits slashing while their bosses raided their pension accounts and gave themselves millions of dollars in raises and Wall Streeters drove the company into its SECOND bankruptcy with hostile takeover debt?

Yeah, okay. It's all the union's fault. They should have just bent over and said "Please, sir, may I have another assfucking?"

Stacked deck against the workers...they never stood a chance of keeping the company open even if they worked for free.

Don't you guys get enough political bullshit all over the rest of the internet?

Why can't we as a society discuss politics? People are so dead set on being "right". Making a mistake or not knowing something is grounds for dismissal. WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES. When Trump works the system he's a good business man, when a single dad with two kids works it, he's a free loader.

Politics aside this country needs two have a change in its paradigm. The problem is systemic and the power at be want to keep it that way.

Soma holiday here I come!!

LOL, that few million to keep the execs on board (instead of leaving which is the likely outcome) really hammered the company. Now, if you haven't done a budget that involves "guaranteed" pension (with no employee contributions by the way), healthcare with little or no employee contribution, and yearly raises that outpace inflation and most other normal wage increases. Those expenses far outweigh a few million in retention raises. But the world needs scapegoats and others to pay our bills.

So you are ok with executive compensation when a company I'd in trouble already. Got it. I liken it to the best collective bargaining agreement I can think of. The NFLPA and the owners were able to work out their differences because the brand is still relevant. The executives should of all been footed and new ones brought in to reinvent three brand. The workers show up every day and work.

Sorry to hear your dad lost his job, Chester. Hope he springs back and find himself a new career.

That's the sad part of this whole thing. All those employees losing their jobs at this time of year.

Or any time of the year for that matter. Sorry for all those botl/sotl who are or have family employed by this company.

Trying to make sense of that post....but in a nutshell, who in their right mind would want to be the new CEO for free? Not saying it wasn't great move politicfally but that couple of million wasn't the lynchpin. I can't speak to the absenteeism at the company, but like most contracts I am sure they had a pretty liberal attendance policy, and they weren't at work when they walked out. Interestingly though, the Teamsters did work to get an agreement with Hostess and pleaded with the bakers to work toward the same goal, they chose the other path.....It is unfortunate that so many lost their jobs, especially when so few controlled the outcome.
