Nicotine Poisoning

As far as feeling better goes, I usually just take a quick 15 minute nap and I feel better (in the rare event of a nicotine-heavy experience).

If you do this during a HERF on a boat people will call you old

Yea, 21, I'm falling apart :p . I used to be a smoker/dipper so I don't usually have too much problem with the nicotine. Boat herfing sounds fun... anyone from DFW ever been to Cedar Creek lake?

Yep, my parents have land down there so we are there quite a bit in the summer.

I love that lake. No public slips and it's pretty damn big. Maybe sometime we can get some DFW people out there or something.

Keep in mind that strong cigars actually lower your blood sugar. (I was surprised when I found that out myself!) I always wondered why it made me sick - that's what it is. You're not actually suffering from nicotine poisoning. You'd have to practically eat a box of churchills for that to happen. That's why sugar helps counteract the effects.

I have a friend who has been an avid cigar smoker for decades. He is diabetic and has learned that he can't smoke Ashton VSG or ESG, LFD, or LFdN. It lowers his blood sugar too much. He said his sugar can drop 10 point or more just after a strong churchill like that. Surprisingly he's a Padron Anniversary whore and smokes boxes of '64s and '26s. Go figure.

Hmm, interesting. I've actually been pretty much chugging sugar for the last few days. My head's still hurting for some reason. Go figure.

Did you inhale?

I'm pretty sure I didn't, but I was trying a new way of drawing my friend was showing me. I might have possibly accidentally done so while working the method (which ironically is supposed to use absolutely no lungs at all). But at the same time I'm pretty sure I didn't.

If I did, though, would that explain the lingering effects?

(Wow, I'm a newb.)

First time this happened to me was when I was about 10 years old and smoked my first menthol cigarette, I drank a glass of kool-aid and it went away.
when I stared smoking cigars I have felt a little woozy on occasion (Don Carlos Belicoso) But now you guys got me scared to smoke the Fuente Fuente Opus X I bought a month or so ago.

Dont' be scared. I just started smoking cigars a few months ago, and I just smoked an Opus X perfection No. 5 (you can read the review in the review section). I proceded it with a decent sized lunch, and I didn't really notice any effects from it. I did drink a sprite afterwards as well.

Don't be afraid of an Opus. I would however wait to smoke it till you find what works for you in preventing lowering you blood sugar so you can actually enjoy the stick. Coke works for me(the kind you buy in cans), that or eating a candy bar before hand.

I got absolutely no buzz off my first power ranger, so I'd say it depends on the person and the way you draw on your cigars. Have a coke on hand just in case.

You never catch a buzz your first time. :D

Interestingly I had my first FFOX last night after a low-carb dinner, and definitely noticed the effects. Not so much nausea but I was dizzy enough that I almost fell over while walking upstairs to the bathroom.

Man I wish I would have read this thread before today :0

I stopped off at a local B&M today, to my suprise they just had an Oliva event there last week so they were pretty stocked up on Oliva Serie V's (No churchill or double robustos tho). I never had one before so I grabbed a torpedo and headed for the lounge.

I don't know if it was because it was a few hours since I had eaten... or that I paired with unsweetened coffee... or that I got to chatting with a couple guys there and in conversation rushed the smoke and finished it too fast... but driving home it hit me like a brick wall. Cold sweat... flushed skin... nausea. All I could do was get home and relax. It took a while but it wore off. I ate about half a banana but it made me feel worse.

If only I had known about the COKE! Haha. It's strange though I smoked a FFOX a few months ago at midnight, a good 6 hours after eating... and was totally fine. I guess there are a lot of factors that can play a part. I just hope I won't be afraid to tackle the other Serie V's I bought :\

I seem to fend it off with a Makers Mark and Coke (always have one when I'm smoking.). I'm also a cigarette smoker, so if it's low sugar, the bourbon and coke helps, and if it's the nicotine, the pack a day has built up my tolerance.
