Newbie Training Cigar Pass-- For February 07-

Thanks Tom, and I apologize for not understanding things better, and my short fuse. Last night's herf with La Aurora left me a bit testy today (just check with my co-workers!) Anyway, as they say, "If you're gonna run with the big dogs, you gotta be able to play hurt."

Okay, I've come up with what I hope is a good solution to this bump-in-the-pass. I'm pulling the Ruby Tubo from the puts (Can ya hear the Rolling Stones singing... "Goodbye Ruby Tubo...") and covering the 1926 with a Titan. Everyone's a winner!

As suggested, I will wait on comments from other members and a final thumbs-up from SJM before this gets packed up.

Takes:
40. Plasencia Reserve Organica, Toro (P:Saxjazzman, T:Mdutch) $6.75
69. Padron 1926 (P:Defetis, T:Mdutch) $20.00
79. Tatuaje Hermoso (P:Wanlail, T:Mdutch) $6.10

Puts:
80. La Aurora Leon Jimenes Camaroon 2001 (P:Mdutch, T:?) $8.50
81. Ghurka "Titan" (P:Mdutch, T:?) SRP $32.25, $20 retail
82. La Aurora Leon Jimenes SUMO Toro Maduro (P:Mdutch, T:?) $6.50

and the lagniappe....
83. La Aurora Preferido #2 Corojo (P:Mdutch, T:?) $12.00
84. La Aurora Leon Jimenes #4 "Don Fernando" (P:Mdutch, T:?) $7.50
85. La Aurora Leon Jimenes #4 "Don Fernando" (P:Mdutch, T:?) $7.50
86. La Aurora Leon Jimenes #4 "Don Fernando" (P:Mdutch, T:?) $7.50

By the way, I've pressed this cause before, but if any of you guys are doing "Spring Cleaning" and would like to send some sticks directly to noncom Marine & Army units in Iraq, look up my address or PM me. I'm sending over my third shipment since I started this in November, currently have sent over 1000 sticks to them --
with many thanks,
lots of pictures
and more pictures
available at the three links above.

Everything looks good to me. And I'm glad we could get past this without it becoming like some of the things I've seen in here recently. And great job with the sticks you're sending over.

Dang, I've been so busy at work lately I haven't made time to look around here. Look's like you noobs did a great job of working out some P&T's all on your own, and without making it a nasty mess!

mdutch, those P&T's look good to me now as well, can't say I've ever tried the Don Fernando either but thanks for giving others a chance to try it. Also, thanks for keeping a positive attitude when your P&T's were questioned and not getting all butt hurt. In passes, this has to be the one area that I've most seen people have a melt down. They get offended that someone would question them and take it as a personal attack. Ususally their first reaction is to come out swinging when most of the time a simple explanation and minor modifications is all that is required.

mdutch and tomthirtysix were both a great example here ....

... and the beat goes on! Nice job on the packages to our boys in the sandbox, MD. I guess its time to check with Nick to see if hes ready in PA ?

Thanks again, tomthirtysix, for resolving this with me like the gentlemen we were raised to be.

(Aside)
And thank everyone for all the kind words about my cigars for the troops effort. Please take a look and see if you've got something to send to the soldiers. One reason why I do this, is that I served as a Boy Scout leader in the Local, District and Council last decade, and I know way too many kids over there. Most of them are college-age and younger who haven't had time or money to explore cigars much and develop a sophisticated palate. But they tell me that being able to relax for 20 minutes with a nice $2-4 stick after another harrowing day escorting convoys through IED zones helps them keep it together.

I currently have a shipment of just under 300 sticks that I'm sending out in the next week (right after the taxes are done!). More pix on their way too, on cigarutopia (see links in prior msg). PM me for an address and I'll make sure any sticks you donate go out on the next shipment. And if you really wanna make someone's day, write one or more short letters to go along with them. The only reason I can think of to give them to me instead of another "cigars for the troops" place is that I have direct contact with Marine & Army units over there, and your donation gets a little more personal. We keep the sticks in the NCO realm because nobody but officers like officers.

*(And back on topic...)
I'm repacking our "Pass" today, and will wait to seal it up and ship it until SJM gives me the nod on the Puts & Takes.

I was a boy scout for a few years back in the day. Unfortunately, my troop sucked, and all we ever did was play basketball and handball at the meetings. Lost interest in it real quick. Had some great times scaring the crap out of the recently graduated Webelos on the camping trips.

Honey, I'm home!!

Just reading the posts and it all sounds great. Outside of the cigars, this business over puts and takes, as NorCalCigarLover has pointed out, is the trigger for a lot of melt downs on other passes. Us noobs have done a great job so far. Credit to Tomthirtysix and Mdutch for setting the example for all of us.

Let the baby fly!! Is Pensylvania ready??

Thanks Mdutch for your generosity.

Puts and takes have been updated on the first thread and, as always, please check to see it is correct. I just want to thank Mdutch again, as all of you for your generosity. I cannot wait until I get the goodies back!! :whistling:

The package is ready to head to PA. Nicktressler are you ready for incoming??

This was our badge of office that we held.

What is that, from the revolutionary war? :sign:

Thank you very much for your service.

No..Thats the Cavalry Scout insignia which was adopted in 1851 and also you see in all the John Wayne movies that deals with the Civil War and after. I have a picture of the flag some where. Its half red and half white with the crossing of hte sabres in the center.

But yeah the Cavalry Scout in the USA was in the Revolutionary War but not the insignia.

By the way, welcome home SJM. We tried to keep this thing flowing smoothly while you were gone.

Yessir, all that and a bag of chips!
The containers are re-packed, but as mentioned the box is toast. I'll re-pack the whole shebang in a nice new heavy-duty box and do my best to get 'er out by Saturday's mail.
