Newbie Pass

What is your deal? I just wished I could exhaust all options for @Aalvord2... You may have joined the forum on 12/27/06 but you can exit this thread on 12/19/23. It's not only about everyone's cigars that are gone but my wife and I have put in a ton of time and effort into trying to resolve this.

This was the nice version of what I was going to say. I’m glad you beat me to it. Everybody else really appreciates all of the work you have done!

Calm down. It's your responsibility to see your mailing through to the next person. Tom is asking a question. No need to get all bunched up.

You've been going on for pages about suing the postal clerk and postmaster. I'm just interested in what that would look like.

And @dawgie34203 ,dont be shy. You got something to say to me, feel free to say it.

I'm calm, Tom is being a smarta$$ and you know it. And why would you even say that? I'm doing my part and keeping everyone informed as we go.

I never once said I was going to sue the post office...... Taking an individual to small claims court is much different, don't take my posts out of context.

I didn't read it that way. I get your emotions are high at this point. But I personally think a small claims would be a good idea. Not sure how to go about it though. I actually thought you might have looked at it ... Anyway... typing has no cadence and can be read totally wrong. @tomthirtysix ... were you being facetious? Let's get along. No need to pop at each other... it's us against USPS.

I wasn't. I was actually wondering how that would work. As someone who has successfully gotten the USPS to take responsibility for a lost pass, suing the clerk and the postmaster never crossed my mind.

That's how I took the post too Tom. @BurnBerry... see unfortunately you read negative into the post. Everyone is on your side to win this. I know it's time consuming to do what you are doing... but it is protocol when these situations take place. You are doing a good job keeping things going and everyone updated. Don't think people are against you.

I think providing some information about how you went about the claim process would be more helpful than questioning @BurnBerry about taking anyone to court, since it never crossed your mind to sue, and you’ve successfully won an appeal. There’s no need to poor kerosene on a smoldering fire. Losing a pass is part of the risk, and it was at no fault of any member. @BurnBerry has kept me in the loop both on the forum, and texting me, @dawgie34203 is also a great guy to pass and trade with. I have a lot of respect for these guys. We’ve all gotten to know each other better as well because of this pass, which to me is just as important as the cigars. There is no need to make a shitty situation smell any worse.

UPDATE: The usps portal wanted me to add more information to the denied 2nd claim, "proof of value" and "proof of insurance." Today I uploaded the letter from Postmaster as well as more screenshots of what I've already provided them, receipts. Who's to say what they're going to do.

Merry Christmas!

All I know is if I’m in a pass in the future please don’t make it “my responsibility” to see my delivery through to the next person…unless I’m personally securing and delivering the package myself. I can’t control what happens when it leaves my hands. All I can control is my actions. In this instance it was labeled correctly and everything was done properly…it’s not on the sender. It’s on the USPS. That comment is crap imo. But I’m a noob. So crucify me if I’m incorrect.

Package was insured for this very reason. And I’m fully confident @Aalvord2 will be taken care of by us all. It’s all gonna be okay.

For wanting to know how to take someone to small claims court…google it. Hell, DM one of the lawyers that are members. I’m guessing we have one or a few in this group. It’s touchy and @BurnBerry has been going above and beyond to fight to get this sorted.

That’s my two cents.

Yeah... your mood is noted.

Ignoring the fact that I didn't ask how to take someone to small claims court (you either purposely ignored or glossed over what I actually asked) I'd be interested in knowing what he's done that's "above and beyond" what should be done when you're the last person to touch a pass and it goes missing.

Just a thought, which means nothing…

Maybe in the future it might be worth looking at limiting the comments on an active Pass to those that are involved in the Pass, at least until it’s completed. Might prevent some bickering…

Hey if you are talking to me? Here's my response. If you want something private... do it in messages. There is no censorship on a public forum. Most of you signed up as newbies in a newbie pass, then act all expert and condescending. I think you are misunderstanding this isn't a private club, and you will get different opinions on a variety of subjects. You don't like what a person brings... ignore button. I'm not sure where all the butt hurt is coming from. But I'm going to post where ever I want. Like it or not.

USPS has still not made this right? Sorry to hear that.

I’m not a lawyer, but I don’t believe you can sue the USPS for lost packages or lost mail. (ETA: You can sue them but i believe they have immunity)

At work we have started using UPS for anything more than a regular letter due to USPS issues.

Let me know if you need any sticks contributed to get this done.

I wasn’t talking to anybody in particular. It just seems like there is a fair amount of arguing going on and I was merely suggesting a solution that might help. I stated upfront that it was just a thought.

There is just one thing going on in this thread that matters. USPS lost a box through no fault of the sender and the sender is doing everything he can to bring things to a satisfactory resolution. All the rest is just extraneous information.

He's never talking directly to anyone. Just commently directly about a specific post but only asking questions. Can't answer questions, but sure can ask them.

Yeah, that's a good idea. Only let the noobs in the noob pass, who have never done a pass before and certainly haven't read a single old pass to see how it's done, comment in the pass itself.

You guys have fun. I'll be anxiously awaiting the conclusion and the OK from Rod to comment.
