New Tatuaje

Hmm, so a Havana VI on steroids will make it a what? A Tatuaje Miami?

I gotta say, that "Edicion Regional" style secondary band has, for me, crossed that line between homage and copycat.

Wilkey

I have to say I agree Wilkey. The RC184 packaging (see Boli Gold Medal) was acceptable, but this is a little bit much. But I'll still try them...
Yup,

Me too. :p

Wilkey

I would do a box split. I like, very much, the brown label but nothing in the Tat line is available locally. I have to rely on my friends in other parts of the country.

Pete knew he's get crap for the regional editions... but he didn't particularly care. :) He had an idea for a new cigar blend variant on the Havana VI, and needed some way to distinguish it from the rest of the line. A second band makes sense, since it is a variation on a theme, and I think he probably just said "what the hell?" and went with a regional band. Could have just as easily been an ER band I suppose, though.

Did you mean "EL" band?

ER, EL, EO, EI.. whatever :)

At the event I went to with Pete Johnson there, he did mention regional editions. He really didn't elaborate on them, but I do recall him speaking about them.

Let's see...

Popular line of "regular" reasonable cigars...

Release massive 50+RG monster...

Increase price and affix second band for regional release...

Go to 50 cab packaging...

Pump up the price...

Where have I seen this formula before ???

I'm guessing that a huge, expensive, limited edition humidor commemorating a non-event is next

Wilkey

Agreed, but he does make tasty cigars.

* sigh * It does seem to be the pattern of things.

No argument from me on that. I just think aping the ER band acts counter to their intention of establishing an identity that acknowledges the Cuban tradition instead of simply copying the trade dress.

But hey, as long as they keep pumping out the quality, they could wrap them in leopard print holographic foil and I'd still buy them.

It's not just Tatuaje that's copied the Cuban style and format, Padilla has done the same. I don't mind it either, so long as quality improves.

Is quality improving?

....hmm, friend Wilkey, I'm beginning to be concerned about your focus here....

I have to say that I enjoy most Tatuajes and I will give this one a try just because it is Tatuaje. I am sure that they are doing a much better job of quality control these days but in the last year or so the frequency of smokes that were plugged/drew like crap out of the red/white lines were just way too high. Maybe I can hunt for one in DC...

I have access to the Exclusivo Lado Occidental Veruco #1 West now. My local shops has then, I would love trade for some the east coast
Zona del Este east coast. If you can get the east coast and need the west coast please PM me

August actually, late summer :)

We ordered these about a week ago now (last Monday/Tuesday) and Pete, on the phone, said they'd show up with the rest of the order (you have to order about $1k of Red label cigars to even qualify for these cigars) in about 2wks. So my guess is that by the end of this week, and into next week everyone here should start seeing them. I personally can't wait to put on to fire...

I just picked up a few west exclusives, i would love to trade for some east. pm me if you have any.
