Was in Costco and a big pow wow ended while I was looking at new LED tv's. The guys is regional manager for Sharp and say to me, hold off if you going to purchase, we will be releasing the new 4K tv last quarter of the year.

So????? Resolution is going to be 3800 x 2100. He said the broadcast industry will have to adjust, but it will be better than real 3D.

Just a little FYI

I heard about these. Sony is pioneering the technology, they are going to be stupid expensive and going to take years for the industry to even consider going with them. Look at how long 3D TV has been out and how many iindustry people are using that technology.

There is a YouTube with Sony, using a 140" projector with the 4k technology you are not able to see any pixelation.

Damn, and I just was trying to save enough coin to buy us the 70" Sharp, guess I'll just scrap that idea and buy more cigars.

The guy from Sharp said 3D is not doing as expected, so maybe this is eventually going to be a replacement. Said you feel like you can walk into what you are watching it is so sharp.

The ability to distinguish resolution is directly proportional to the distance from the source. The human eye has limitations so that throwing more pixels at it won't make much difference after a certain point. The 4K projectors just about max out the acuity on a 96" screen at 15'. Change the screen size or the distance and a 4K projector may not be something worthwhile to invest in. For smaller screens like your 70" you'll need to sit no further then 9' to get the full effect, at 13.5' you won't notice the difference between a 4K set and a 1080P set provided they are outputting the same brightness.

The more booze he drinks the smarter he gets. The PROOF is in the statement (pun intended).
