Ok so I am so brand new to Cigars I could not even name 5 brands.

Please post a list of your favorite 3 sticks or a list of 3 must haves for a real newbie. I am probably the most "green" member when it comes to Cigars than all 8500+ members, but I really want to learn.

I will buy the 3 mentioned sticks and try them this month. Price does not matter...really??? I just want to try something you guys recommend and be able to post results based on my findings.

I mean I do not even know what kind of Cigars I like yet.

I would try the following

Padron 2000 maddie
Oliva V ( maddie if you can find )
Any Tatuaje

Good Luck brother.

These are by no means the best of the best but they are some of my favorite go too cigars. I am not going to recommend sizes becuase my favorite size may not be yours. So experiment with that.

Padron 1926 or 1964
La Gloria Cubana Serie R
Oliva Masterblend 3

Assuming that you want recommendations of sticks that are easily acquired at a local shop, I like these:

Ashton VSG or Heritage
Gran Habano Corojo #5 sorry, go with a Padron 1964 maduro imo.
Grayclif (Blue, black or purple label)

Edit for a better stick

Hi Golfanatic. I see you live in Roswell. Which cigar shop do you patronize?

My recommendations are Arturo Fuente 8-5-8, Padron 2000, and Don Pepin Garcia Black Label.

I'll be heading down the Cigar Merchant on Alpharetta Highway tomorrow evening. I can help you pick out a couple things if you'd like to meet me over there.

thanks a lot guys! I am seeing a bunch of suggestions for the padron. I have never heard of it but it must be a great one!

I'm going to throw a twist in here for ya bro. Being an avid golfer myself, there are many cigars I enjoy out on the course...depending, of course, on the time of day, and how I'm shooting. When I shoot bad...I want something that's got a helluva kick to it. On the other hand, when I shoot well...I just want an enjoyable, smooth cigar.

Being new to cigarpass, you will soon come to learn many different things about cigars. An easy way I found is to smoke a cigar that members have recently posted their own personal reviews about. If you smoke the cigar while reading the review from a fellow BOTL, you will start to train your pallate to pick up certain flavor profiles and characteristics (earthy, spicy, etc.). Granted, it takes time...but if you're willing to learn, and love cigars, it's a great way to get started.

Send me a pm with your address, and I'll send you a nice sampler of some of my favorite "on the course" smokes, that hopefully will give you a range of strengths and flavors.

Then when you figure out which ones you like and don't, you'll pick up on what types of tobaccos, strengths, and flavors that will be worth your own personal investment.

That sounds good. I have USTA tennis practice at 7pm. Could you meet before that?

Once you go Padron you won't go backwards, It's not a bad way to start.

White Owl - Grape
ACID - anything works!
Moontrance(right Wilkey?)

:whistling: :sign:

When I started I was recommended to try: Fuente Sun Grown, Jose Seijas (never tried it), Oliva Master Blends 3, Ashton VSG and La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero (if I wanted a knock me down cigar). All the ones I tried were great.

Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic
Oliva Serie O or V (V Maduro if you can find one)
La Riqueza #3

Don Pepin Garcia JJ Maduro
Padron -ANY
Arturo Fuente Rothschild

Newbie Sampler is also a good place to start. Welcome aboard! :)

I think most people here are hitting the nail on the head perfectly. I'll just list 3 smokes I think could be a great everyday smoke.

Padron 2000 (I don't think anyone dislikes these. Great burn, great flavor and great value).
Cuvee Blanc (Most newbies to cigars don't like Connecticut's but I honestly think this is one of the smoothest Conn.'s I've ever had and you might develop an appreciation of Conn.'s early on with this one).
La Aroma de Cuba Edicion Especial (a little more expensive, around $8, but if that's not much to you, I think it's a great smoke).

Newbie Sampler is also a good place to start. Welcome aboard! :)

+1 for the newbie sampler, you really can't go wrong. I got a great selection of smokes from Scott when I did mine, also have been able to reach out to him for some great advice.
