My three seconds of fame.

The only thing I despise more than piss tests are checkpoints.

They both make me feel like I've been raped.

Next it will be cigars. Are we gonna take it up the wazoo for that, too.

I heard a BOTL say the other day, "When it gets that difficult I'll quit"

I won't.

Give me my cigar or give me death!

Soon there will be a law against "reckless individualism with intent to be free"

"That government is best which governs least"
"Under a government which imprisons unjustly, the true place for a just man is also a prison." - our nation's greatest individualist, Henry David Thoreau

GRRR Don't get me started :D But the condom was appropriate

Vortex, what did you mean by the last sentence.

If more people acted responsibly maybe we wouldn’t need checkpoints or urine tests. As our population explodes and there are more idiots out there we require more protection from ourselves. This is a sad fact of life and being your age you should know this. You like me can remember a simpler time when most of us did the right thing. We could play outside as children without the fear of being abducted. Our society has evolved into a cesspool and in my opinion we are not doing enough to correct it. A few checkpoints a year doesn’t bother me especially if we get one a$$whole off the road with each one. I thought maybe from this perspective you might see a different side of the situation. Nothing personal JMHO. ;)

Bravo! I have a short 30 minute commute to work and find almost daily there are more morons on the road than ever. And no, it's not just that I'm getting older and not understanding youth, hell, half the idiots are my age. Either way, I agree that we should have even more officers out protecting our streets, vehicles and lives. Cell phones are accidents waiting to happen, everyone's in such a hurry, speed kills.

On my motorcycle site right now there's a thread going about a member who says he routinely rides with a good size group at speeds of 100 or more for miles on end. I thanked him for living in Tennessee as we have enough idiots here already and I didn't need his sorry ass on my highways in WI!

Thanks for getting this thread started. I did not realize so many of you guys were involved in law enforcement. (or at least your act like you are) :D The PD I work for does not do checkpoints, but we still make lots of DWI arrests. I had to argue with MY DAD about it. He said we were being too hard on people who went out to bars and had a couple beers. I said he would change his mind if his daughter was killed by a drunk driver... he changed his tune a bit. ;) Besides the fact a couple beers won't put you close to the legal limit. DWI and no insurance...Don't get ME started! lol...take care and be safe all you brother's in blue!

Yeah Brandon, retired NYPD after 15 yrs... disability retirement. Wasn't my choice to retire. Who knows, I might have been like my Dad who is still with the NYPD for 33 yrs this Feb. Guys like vortex piss me off. Lots to say but have never pulled a DOA out of a car or had to make a death notification.

Ya think Vortex will explain his comments..... maybe he needs a reminder

He really stepped in it...Thanks for bumping this thread.

PM has been sent to remind him of this

Guys like this love to "buzz" me on my Harley... I usually see them coming in the rear view and tell the wife to hold on.... seen plenty of them go down too.... Helmets and leather don't work a 100+ MPH

I did see a while back where someone has the approriate label for this kind of rider: organ donor

We call em "Tree Darts" where I work. I ride alot...Well under the three digit mark though.

I have...Multiple times on both...One of the worst things an officer can do. I hate drunk drivers.

i got a DUI about 20 yrs ago, it changed my perception on driving while drinking. I don't EVER do it, not in the 20 yrs that's passed, too dangerous to myself and others.

I admire you LEO's for the thankless work ya'll do

This thread is far too political for this forum but it's sad that someone should have to explain why we shouldn't be arrested on general purposes - because we may be guilty of a crime. There was a time when everyone knew why this was wrong. Now we are taking our damn shoes off in the airports. It's so sad.

But like I said, there are also good reasons why threads that address extremely charged political issues are disallowed here. So while we can still discuss cigars openly and don't have to hide TOO many of our activities, let's keep the posts about illegal searches or false flag operations or what not all else to a minimum. That's one of the great things about this forum. It's on us to police ourselves. There's no moderators pulling us over saying, "How many political posts have you had tonight". Because we know the rules and freely abide by them.

I guess I am confused, or maybe I missed a post, but I didn't see anything about illegal searches, just standard issue DUI checkpoints, etc. Which, in my opinion, keeps folks who are doing the stupid shyte from hopefully hurting others on the road. As far as taking off your shoes in the airport, and things that hinder your convenience (sp) while flying, well you can thank our friendly neighbors overseas in the middle east for that...and if it saves a few more planes from being taken over and innocent people killed, I can handle the extra hassle when boarding a plane.

Better look around and thank the servicemen and women, cops, fire fighters, and anyone else who protects us on a daily basis...they deserve it.

Don't quite understand this post...I've worked DUI checkpoints and never seen anyone arrested on general purposes. I've seen drunk drivers arrested. Please explain the general purpose comment. Do you really think I'm gonna bring a guy before the judge and say "I arrested him on a general purpose charge."

Now you are claiming this thread is political and needs to disallowed... Because someone is calling you out on your bullshit. Take look back at the first post you made in this thread...Looks like you started the political debate. Your second post is total jibberish and makes no sense in relation to the rest of the thread.

Think I've got you figured out...

Well if everyone abide by "the rules" their would be no need for police or "general purpose arrest". I agree that I hate standing out at a checkpoint as much as you hate going trough it but sadly that is the world we live in. People can't be expected to police themselves because they won't. In a perfect world their would not be any need for police but we don't live in a perfect world. We have drug dealers, robbers, murders, rapist, drunk drivers, and a host of other shitheads to deal with on a daily basis. So do me a favor and go to your local police dept and talk to the chief of police or sheriff and ask to do a ride along then come back and tell me how we are overgoverned and how the police only harass the people. I am still waiting on the condom commit.
