My New Humidor

Nice humi.

I'll stick w/ my coolers though. Not sure if the wifey would enjoy paying that for a humidor.

I don't think asking your wife to pay for your humidor is the right way to go about things ;)

Awesome freakin humidor. A true work of art. Seriously if you want to unload some of those smokes the address is in the profile :)

I have a humidor built by Bob and it is great. I have grown out of mine right now. I have about 40-45 boxes in mine right now with about 300 loose sticks in there. Very low maintanance and it was very well calibrated. Bob is the man for the humis. :)

Congrats on the new box!
I have the Aristocrat Plus THC also, and it has been a fantastic unit. Only recently has the peltier unit been running frequently, seems to keep things nice and cool.

Very nice humidor. I sure would like to have a collection someday to justify that type of unit. For now I think my smokes are perfectly comfortable in their Igloo.

(This post has taken me several extra minutes to type because of the fabulous distraction in Brewmeister's sig. I believe I've benn hypnomotized!)

I did have a stretch of a month or so where my humidity was running too high. Unfortunately, Bob's system is only designed to increase humidity, not decrease it (other than the slight effect of the Peltier cooling unit). I ended up putting 65% beads in mine and the problem straightened itself out.

JK - that's interesting.

Did the RH go up due to outside temp? In other words, will, IYO, the extra Peltier cooler prevent this? Somehow I think it will!

What quantity of beads did you add and was this just for the few months?

Brian

I really never figured it out. The ambient humidity in my house is around 50% (we're all air conditioned in Florida). The only thing I could think of was that I got some really wet boxes of cigars, and it took time to adjust. I still have the beads in there, just as a backup. I keep my controller set to 65%, so that works out great.

The Peltier unit provides a negligible amount of de-humidifying effect, something less than 1% as I understand it. It is really not supposed to affect humidity at all, which is why we use them in humidors, versus compressors; however it does have a very small effect. Not enough in my case.

I do recommend beads in your Aristocrat. As I said, the unit really has no way to bring humidity down; it can only increase it. The beads can do both.

Regards,

JK

Bee-you-tee-full!
Use it in good health.

Thank you, I also equate health and a good cigar.
When you smoke you relax, heart rate slows down and therefore, you meditate.
Good for your health ;)
